A neat tool, but probably not necessary for fridge pickles
I love eating pickles and I've tried again and again to make my own that I like. I was hoping this device would help me make better pickles. It did aid me but I had some issues with the device.I like that all the pieces fit onto the included mason jar. They all seem very high quality. The device also allows you to vacuum seal your jar while you let the pickles marinade. The package also includes a vegetable spear cutter, which I was excited to use, but it's not well shaped for cutting regular size cucumbers. It would work OK for smaller vegetables.I was hoping this item would come with more recipes. It includes a few recipes, but none that were too impressive. I wish there was a website to find more of their pickle recipes. But it seems to me that this device doesn't offer many benefits you can't get from a regular mason jar.

Love the concept but the design is flawed
Let start off by saying this is such a brilliant idea. I love kitchen items they are modular and have more than one purpose. Flipping through the book I see that there are different “lids” you can purchase which do different things, and I love that. This came in the mail today and I promptly ran to the grocery store to grab some ACV and a red onion. I’ve been dying to make pickled red onions for a while and today was the day. I followed the pickling recipe in the book and all was good until I tried to seal the jar. I looked over the instructions a few times to make sure I was doing it correctly. I made sure the rim and lid were both dry and that there was .5” space under the lid. It took me many attempts to get the lid to seal and I’m not really sure what the problem is.I tried the pickles after a few hours and they were well on their way to becoming proper pickles onions. I had the issue with the seal again for a few tries, but I’m hoping it keeps overnight. I have another item similar to this which has a vacuum which I don’t like because it adds extra gadgets to my kitchen but it DOES seal very easily...

Not For Me
I have no pickling experience. I got this to give my tween kids an educational experience, and not to make a lot of pickles.Having made a jar of vinegar pickles, I’m not sure what I’m getting from buying this kit versus getting some online recipes and buying canning supplies at the local supermarket. The cucumber slicer works, and is ridiculously sharp; pickles go through it as 4 quarters effortlessly. Unfortunately, I gave myself a nasty cut on the forefinger when I casually reached to pick it up. So, maybe not for children or thoughtless adults. The jar sealer doesn’t work well for me, and the seal quickly breaks in the refrigerator. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.Comes with recipes, but there are dozens of free ones online. So, not understanding the value.

It comes unsuctioned
I attempted to make some quick pickled asparagus, using a taller jar with the same width mouth. It seemed to suction well enough, but...it didn't stay that way. I'm not sure what the deal was, so it's something I will have to play with. The instructions could definitely be a little bit better, but I do like that the lid should work on most standard-size jars without needing to buy special ones. The cutter for the top took some working out as well, to make sure the push part goes in just the right way (otherwise, it either gets stuck, or doesn't cut all the way through - and those blades are SHARP).Overall, I love the idea and will continue playing with it, but for some reason it just doesn't seem to be working for me correctly.

We are picky about our pickles here and take them very seriously, in fact there is only one kind we will even buy and we have been trying to perfect them ourselves for a long time. This set is okay, I like the concept, the convenience and just about everything about it except for the price, a little steep in my opinion. This is an item that we will use over and over again with different recipes and pickle varieties to experiment in our quest for the perfect pickle so it's worth the purchase if nothing else but for the fun of trying. One thing that impresses me is that every batch we have made so far as remained really crunchy so it's on the right track. 4 stars.*If my Review has helped you make an informed choice about this product in any way I would appreciate it if you take a moment of your time to let me know by hitting the Helpful button so I can keep track of my most Helpful Reviews. Love the idea, but...
Love the idea, but...I really love the IDEA of this set!The pieces are really cute, the quickstick cutting prep lid is sharp and works, and everybody loves mason jar attachments :)But...I've been using the quickler vacuum lid for a while now and it does have issues staying sealed on the jar. The whole purpose behind this concept is QUICK pickles, those under 24 hours to make, and so if you understand that the lid is not designed to stay on for long (and may come off on its own sooner than that), then this kit may work for you. Also, the vac lid fits wide-mouth mason jars of all sizes, but will NOT fit regular-mouth mason jars. It comes with a pint-sized, wide-mouth glass mason jar with one-piece lid; in addition to the cutting attachment and the vacuum lid.I also want to say that the vacuum lid in this kit is in no way a replacement for canning if you are looking for a shelf-stable finished product. This vacuum lid is designed to be used for under 24-hours during refrigeration of your pickles; which will also be refrigerated after the vacuum lid removal. I made the pickled ginger recipe and it was fantastic with my homemade avocado rolls. Please note that there are only a few recipes included with the instructions.
