KlipschCinema 600 Sound Bar 3.1 Home Theater System with HDMI-ARC for Easy Set-Up, Black

For the original 299 promotional pricing, this was an amazing bargain that I am glad I did not hesitate on. These days it seems the price has reverted to normal but you can get the Cinema 400 at the lower price, which appears to differ by slightly lower wattage for the most part.For a small room, this works well and you don't have to hassle with an AVR. I have this connected to an older HD TV, so I'm using an optical cable and an Apple TV for content. I leave the Apple TV on 24x7 and the Klipsch times out on its own. When I turn on the TV, after about 5 seconds the 600 detects sound and turns on. If I turn the Klipsch on and off then I need to set the source to analog from digital (default), so naturally I let it time out. I used the Apple TV learning function to learn the Klipsch remote so for the most part I can use the Apple TV remote to control the volume. I wall mounted the Klipsch (and the TV). Be sure to follow directions and leave extra space below the TV because you need that space to raise the 600 before dropping its bolts into the wall bracket.One thing to note is that the virtual surround mode does not work well with music as it introduces noticeable distortion, depending on the type of music, so I only use it for movies. Once you use it a few times you will see what I mean. But later I added the Surround 3s and man does going from virtual to actual makes a big difference in SQ. One thing though is that there are several gradations of surround you can select, but so far I've found only the first level is good, as the sound starts to get progressively tinny at the higher levels. And it turns out adding these surrounds was very simple--just plug the included transceiver into the 600 and the surrounds auto detect it.I do wish the volume increments were about 1/2 what they are. Once the subwoofer and dialog settings are set they don't typically need to be tweaked often. The dialog setting has 4 options to raise the midrange. I'd say the highest two settings are mostly too much for my taste. The subwoofer can throw down serious bass for a speaker that is not particularly heavy. In a large bedroom this produces more than enough distortion free, clear sound, based on what I Apple Watch detects as a safe dB level. I'm not sure how well it might work in a very large living room with high ceilings--for that I have plans to get the much delayed flagship Klipsch 1200 soundbar with a digital connection to a newer 4k TV.While this has bluetooth it doesn't have WiFi. I had to watch a youtube review to find out that you can download the Klipsch Connect app to perform firmware and software updates. It did ship with the most current versions.A strange thing happened with delivery. Amazon routed this large item through USPS instead of UPS or Amazon delivery as expected. I had to call the PO to see what was going on with delayed delivery and had to pick it up myself since my normal route carrier certainly couldn't fit this in her vehicle.

I bought this to replace an anemic and boxy sounding LG sound bar that had really poor dialog intelligibility. Often when watching movies with big dynamic range we’d find ourselves turning up the LG to max just to make out dialog, and max was not particularly loud. The Klipsch Cinema 600 however has excellent intelligibility and I imagine max volume would be deafening. One of the best things about it is its massive and powerful subwoofer that really gets deep into the lower octaves and seems like it was borrowed from a high-end hi-fi system. It is not the kind of sub you typically find with sound bars, let alone $300 ones. I love really deep bass and own a bunch of subs including a BagEnd sub system for recording that is flat to below 18Hz. As far as bass goes the Cinema 600 sub does not disappoint. Our home has an open floor plan with a large two-story living room, and this sound bar fills it with very deep powerful bass and nice clean top end.The unit does have a couple of quirks that I feel need to be mentioned: First there are no bass/mid/treble controls. The Klipsch website page for this product shows an iPhone running a Klipsch app that is displaying a multi-band equalizer. This was part of the reason I bought this sound bar. When I found no such option in the app I contacted Klipsch support who confirmed that there in fact is no equalizer for the Cinema products in the app, and that the equalizer shown is for another product. They have since added text to the effect that an equalizer is coming so I am keeping my fingers crossed for one. Also just to be clear, you can adjust the subwoofer level and there are some dialog options.The second quirk is the cryptic LED display on the front of the unit which makes it hard to tell what the soundbar is doing. Is surround on? Are dialog enhancements on? Who knows! On the top of the unit is a small row of buttons to indicate some of these things (not volume level though) but it is not visible from the front when actually watching something. This is a small quirk, but it just an odd design choice.Neither of these quirks is that big a deal given how good the sound is and the overall value for the price. Also the remote is very well designed and has sort of a high-end feel, not like the cheap remotes that typically come with TVs and sound bars. One of its best features is that when you pick it up the buttons automatically illuminate so you can see them in the dark. It’s also easy to find the volume with your thumb without looking. Very well thought out! Overall the Cinema 600 is an excellent product. Super low bass, clear and intelligible mids & highs, and a nice high quality remote control. I am extremely happy with this sound bar.
