Merciless is the first book in the series and what a debut it is. I really enjoyed the characters and the ride they took me on. This is a spin off series but I was never lost reading Merciless all it did was intrigue me to read the other series.This is my first read by Luciani and I'm reading to read them all.

Reading g this romance gives the reader a different view on the shadier side of life. It is a great book to read

Well, I enjoyed it at first but it fell pretty flat for me by the end. I didn't dislike it but I wanted it to have more going on by the end. It didn't get me excited to buy the next one

I am ALWAYS a sucker for a mafia read, but this story didn't really include the mafia end of things in it, there was only talk about how the characters were born into that life. The story first started out a bit on the over-descriptive side, but settled down a few chapters in. I liked the dual POV and the character development was pretty good.This is my first read from Kristen Luciani. I judge authors and their books by things like: grammar, flow, how realistic or unrealistic the plot is, etc. The author could definitely seek help in tightening up the grammar, nothing glaring, but could be better, the story line was believable but the end was extremely rushed in that the characters fell madly in love after an event and the story ended. There wasn't sex until about 75% into the book and the slow burn factor fell short.If you are looking for an okay quick read, I recommend this book. I think this author is going to develop through more writing.I received a free copy for an ARC review.

>Book Review – Merciless>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Severinov Bratva series and doesn’t really have a satisfying end. Kaz is the youngest brother in a Russian Bratva. He is a trained killer whose actions accidentally caused the death of his mother. He is sent to a new business interest in Las Vegas in order to stay under the radar for a while. Kaz seems very sure of himself, but as the story goes on, he really shows signs of low self-esteem as to his work. Lindy is a college girl who, along with 2 friends, decides counting cards is a way to pay for school.>Lindy has run from her family when she realizes they are in the mob. When she realizes Kaz is in the mob also, she recognizes tattoos on him that mark him as a Bratva enforcer. The weird thing is she states her sister-in-law has the same marks and told Lindy what they mean. How did Lindy not know her family was mob with her brother engaged to a killer? Why would Lindy think leaving her family’s money behind would all of the sudden keep her off of any enemy radar? She left her family due to all of their unlawful practices, but then decides card counting is okay? The story doesn’t fit the characters actions.>The romance between Lindy and Kaz starts out with insta lust. Lindy hides her lust with rude banter that gets old really fast. Once Lindy and Kaz get together, the romance is more of a lust fest and not very romantic. The connection that Kaz has with Lindy’s family is a little too contrived. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the book 3 stars. There characters don’t really pull a reader in. The plot was slow moving also.

Let’s get one thing straight - this is a dark suspense novel featuring a romance that may or may not end with a HEA (I’ve read the book and I still don’t know). When we meet our hero, Kaz, he’s on a bit of a killing spree while trying to extract revenge for some family issues. When we meet our heroine, Lindy, she is counting cards, scamming guys and carrying around drugs in case she needs to make her mark forget the evening’s events.That being said... the writing is great and the story draws you in. I loved the banter and chemistry between the two, and the action makes the pages fly by. I’m not going to say that I loved the book, because I was really hoping it would resolve in a more satisfying way for our couple and I didn’t realize just how dark both the leads were going to be, but I also didn’t hate it. If you’re looking for a darker romantic suspense (that may technically be a standalone but definitely leads into the next book) and don’t mind if the leads cross some boundaries along the way, this might be right up your alley. One intimate scene 65% through the book and a cliffhanger. If I would have known, I wouldn’t have read the book. Kaz and Lindy were okay characters that fell for each other too quickly. Kaz could not get past his guilt while constantly beating himself up. Lindy couldn’t get past her family’s betrayal. This book had potential but it was lacking due to the character development, loose ends and cliffhanger.

Enjoyed this book and I love how it’s linking in with Kat & Rocco and can see this becoming one massive mafia family the way it’s going.Lindy is really grown compared to how I pictured her in Rocco’s story and Kaz sounds dreamy & dangerous 😍Going to start Possessive tomorrow.
