Most of the reviews are wrong!
OK, I'd like to address some complaints in other reviews. 1 - It doesn't work. There is a plastic cover over the on off switch. This must be removed to turn it on. Just Saying. 2 - Accuracy. It is 1* different vs a NOAA Skywarn issued thermomotor. 3 - It's too dim to read. As you can see from the picture I posted not true. It needs a back light to be readable!!!! 4 - It won't stick! Moisten the suction cup before application. Again see pic.SPOILER ALERT: it is very small be forewarned!Overall it works as described. My 2 cents.

Great product, once a little design problem is fixed!
This is a great thermometer and a fantastic value -- with ONE exception, which is easily fixed. [I bought 2 for $7.50, but liked them so, I bought another 10 at $5.50 each, for gifts.] Problem: The thermometer has a CLEAR plastic back, and you cannot see the numbers when it is dark out (i.e., dark behind the displayed numbers). The fix: simply provide a white background, and there are many ways to do this. Temporarily, I taped a little piece of white paper on the back of the first two, until I rec'd my next 10 and decided on the best permanent fix. Since I had 12 and was planning to give them as gifts, I decided on a permanent solution and painted the clear back with white Rust-oleum (oil-based), so it would be weatherproof; any light-colored, acrylic paint you have handy should do. [I lightly sanding the plastic to roughen the surface before painting.] An easier/faster solution would be to tape a small piece of light colored tape on the back, although it might have to be replaced periodically; the adhesive side of duct tape is probably light enough to use and would stick well. Now for the proper credits: Tim (from Houston) wrote an excellent review, saying it was a good thermometer, but also warning of this problem and providing the white-paint solution -- otherwise, I probably wouldn't have figured out the fix and would have been dissatisfied and rated it poorly -- so, thanks, Tim!! Obviously, it would be best for the manufacturer to go this easy fix -- I just called Chaney Instruments and passed along the advice.

Temperature isn't anywhere near accurate...
If you have $13 you just want to toss out the window, (same one this gadget is installed on), open the window, reach up, pull off glass and throw on ground. No, that's a breach against the environment, don't do that. Instead, take the $13 and light it up with something inside it. It will give you much more satisfaction than the expectation and subsequent disappointment of this item functioning improperly. Let me address the "suggested areas of concern" for this review: "Thermometer quality" = actually it looks pretty solid and I like the design- suction cup probably would have lasted awhile and the first one was out there for about 6 days before I lost faith.... Value for money: Nyet, Temperature accuracy: 12 degrees off not acceptable by anyone's standards, Ease of Use: Oh!!! It was actually easy, if you don't count the masking tape I applied to the back to see the numbers, which are otherwise invisible.

Great while it works (about 1 year)
I have purchased 2 of these. I enjoy looking at the temp and I stuck it on the outside of my kitchen sink window. I can't see it after dark or early morning in the winter because you need light behind it to see it. Each lasted about a year then stopped working. I won't buy a third. I think I'll buy an old fashioned dial thermometer this time that will last for years.

Accurate temps, but unreadable in the dark
Accurate enough, but if you want to look out the window to see what the temperature is in the dark, forget about it. The numbers become virtually invisible on this thermometer without any light behind it. The model it replaced had a solid back, but was - unfortunately - discontinued.

Great LIttle Outoor Thermometer
Really like the viewability of this design. Just sick it to the outside of a window that is out of direct sunlight and it does it thing. I have it in my kitchen window and can see first thing each morning what it's like outside and throughout the day. With the clear display it easy to read.

Stick it to the window and forget about it (in the shade) Should last for at least three years before battery replacement.
Bought this from Tractor Supply for a few bucks three years ago. The battery died and instead of replacing the battery I went on Amazon to see if they carried this thermometer and they did, so I order a new one. When you are used to seeing this every day outside your window and one day it does not work, it feels like a void just opened. This window thermometer works so well that I trust it over the weather channel. From the day I purchased this from Tractor Supply on clearance, I always said that this was the best purchase I ever made for only a few dollars. My replacement from Amazon cost a little bit more but still worth every penny.I really depend on knowing the outside temperature and this little guy fits the bill and is very accurate. I highly recommend this as an inexpensive way of knowing the outside temperature. It is a great size with a readable display and I wear reading glassesIt is mounted next to my Hummingbird feeder in the shade(NORTH FACING WINDOW) away from direct Sun and it is great. You can not read this at night however, if you can if you have an exterior light and a flashlight.

Hard to read through window. And picks up indoor heat. Disappointing
