Easy enough to install if you're somewhat handy. I swapped out the packaged screws for larger timber screws.i didn't trust the provided smallish screws to hold the brackets against the tension if the wires.The control tape is a little bit of an eyesore and didn't stand up to a whole lot of use.Other than that - fantastic! The shade itself is great. The design is very convenient. Looks great too!

Update review:Customer care of windscreen4less contacted via email and sent another control tape via UPS took about a week to get, as well as they gave me a little credit for the inconveniences. They were courteous and followed up. So I thought I would give it another try on this tape. Not sure if there were any improvements in the material. Overall I can say that shade is still up and the other components are doing great after 4 months of use. Bottom line, the components overall to me are of quality.. cable, fittings etc, except for the control tape. So fingers crossed will do another update in a couple of months. ;)Old review:Item delivered around middle of April 2023..like the way it looks ;however the control tape broke in July 2023 not even 3 months.. we close the retractable shade when it gets windy on occasion or when we leave to go out. Would like a better replacement on this control tape..asap..the rest of the parts seem OK.

I bought 2 of these to cover our 12 X 16 pergola. Set up was overall pretty easy to do. It is nice that you can change the length of these by cutting the fabric and reattaching the hardware. I had to cut about 4 feet off ours to get the sag we wanted.We also used extra clips to connect the last section to the far u-bolts when it is open so the wind doesn't blow it back towards the other posts.We used the same clips to fasten it when it is retracted, so the wind doesn't whip them around or damage the material.Had one rain so far, and they kept the water out.So far we love them and they really spruced up the pergola.

Providing a quick update.I contacted the vendor and they shipped me 6 new units to replace the current ones. They also stated that they need to be dried immediately after they get wet, treat them with a mold inhibitor, and if weather is bad I should take them inside. If you're thinking like I am, the reason I bought them was to be outside and protect our patio from sun and rain. IDK, I'm waiting for a mold inhibitor product to arrive so I can treat them and install them. We shall see...In the photos you'll notice in one years time the material is discoloring rapidly. The material does not stand up to weather at all.I installed two shades last summer at the beginning of the season and took them down for the winter. Cleaned them with soap and water as best I could as this summer started and bought 4 more for our new pergola in hopes the new ones would be better. They are not and in the photos you can see the new ones are going down the same path of ugliness. The ones from last year are now really bad so I'm searching for a different vendor. I've clearly made a big purchase mistake and find it interesting nobody else states the same issue. Waiting for the vendor to provide a suggestion but they said they don't guarantee against elements... the description says UV protected and waterproof.Do not buy them if your using outside!

After almost two years the shade fabric is still in great condition. The only flaw on this product is the control tape. It is not made for outdoors and rips after one or two seasons. I contacted the seller to report that the control tape was no longer useable. The seller responded immediately and sent me replacement tapes for two shades. I am giving the seller five stars for their great customer service!Overall a great value for the money. The 16' shade is actually 20' long. We needed to cover a 12' section and had to clip 3 sections together in order to get the coverage and shade we needed. The only issue we had was with the snap hook opening and the distance tape. The hooks were very sharp and snagged the tape, which was very soft. The color is burgundy and much nicer than the red shown in the picture.

Installed in July. Removed for storage in November. When I put back up today, the control tape is torn in multiple spots.I'm going to buy more, but found that to be weird considering it was winterized.Otherwise, works great and was reasonably priced.

It’s hard to rate this. Good product that works like it’s supposed to but terrible factory work and obviously no quality control.The item ordered was 4’ x 12’ (6 - 24” sections) The item received was 4’ x 15’! (6 - 30” sections) In the description it states 2’, or 24”, between sections. What I got was 30” between sections! This makes the U shape of the sections hang down 15” when folded instead of 12”, more that I wanted. This would be an easily adjustable kit except there are screws inserted at the ends of the aluminum rods so you can’t adjust the spacing between the sections because the factory installed screws leave a mark on the canvas. The only option is to cut at either end, shortening only the end sections, and move that rod to a shorter location. At least it’s simple to change the length (if you’re a regular diy’er). Aside from the measurement issue… the instal is super simple, all the parts worked like the instructions stated, and the waterproof material works perfectly.This would be better as a kit for us to build to our own spacing instead of someone who can’t read a tape measure building it in a shop.Would be even better if I could purchase extra aluminum bars & hardware so I could add them to the middle of each of the extra long sections and reduce the amount of material hanging down.
