Coralife Aquarium Fish Tank Marine Salt Water or Fresh Water SL-65 Super Luft Air Pump

Installed in deep (4 ft) tall tank. Plenty of air pressure. Tank is in a wall and pump is on opposite side so there is a small amount of pump noise. Might prove annoying if the pump was in same room underneath the tank. Has been running 24 x 7 for several months. No issues.

I thought this would be a crappy cheap purchase but my experience with the unit has been great. It's effin loud, no doubt, but for what it does, it's actually relatively quiet. This thing pounds out air like nobodies business. I've had this thing plugged in and running for a year straight. It gets a little warm so if you have a small fan to point at the compressor while running, it will significantly reduce the heat signature coming from the unit. This will also help the unit last longer and run better as hot operating temperature adds wear and tear to anything.

I read the reviews and I knew that this would not be "quiet", but I was not ready for how loud it truly is. Maybe it does a great job. Maybe it's better than diaphragm pumps...that's all well and good, but if you can't be within 30' of the tank because it's so loud, it is a waste. We put this in the tank cabinet and turned this on with the air valves off. The sound that came from the pump was the equivalent of a loud TV. There is no way to have a normal conversation in the same room as this pump when it was running. As a test, I turned it on, closed the cabinet, and made a call from my speaker phone that is about 10' from the tank, and the person on the other line asked me what the noise was without me prompting them. So, while this may very well be a solid product for what it is supposed to do, it is just too noisy to be practical in most situations.

I purchased this air pump seeking a pump that would be able to power a large set of airstones at a depth of 3 feet. Many other pumps that I tried were not quite up to the task.This pump is louder than a standard vibrator pump, but if you need a heavy duty device that pumps a lot of air, then this is the one.Update: 8/18/2012 - I'm sorry to report that the pump has failed after 8 months of service at a depth of 3 feet. Although the pump was loud, it was acceptable given the volume of air that it pumped when new. However, over time it got louder and then lost the ability to provide even a meager amount of air at a depth of 3 feet.

Great product. With addition air lines to pvc works great on at least 12 tanks. Continuous flow

The package arrived wrapped up in tape as box was hardly there. The plastic handle ( which doesn't effect operation) was broken. The outlet is larger than standard aquarium tubing - instructions show an adapter which was not included. ( only thing in box was the pump and a 6 way plastic splitter that would be useless because it doesn't have any controls to regulate air flow) Fortunately I made my own adapter and I will replace handle with my own / no way of telling if damage occurred in shipping or if it was sent like that. My guess is it happened during Amazon shipping since it was wrapped back up with lots of packing tape and a Amazon bag. As far as the pump it does produce a nice amount of air and is a little noisy which is expected. I'm operating ten filters with no problem. 2 in a 300 gallon - 4 in four 20 gallon tanks - 4 with two each in two 40 gallon tubs growing outdoor pond plants for next spring.

great pump very powerful a little noisy but what do you expect with that much output.Air pump gets a little on the warm side while running as welloverall so far pump is doing its job.

Works really good, but it is VERY loud. You can make it run quieter by running a 3/8ths inch air line from the intake port on the pump to somewhere else. Preferably with cool air, as it runs quite hot.Very well made and I knew it was loud, so I'm not going to knock any points off for that. It doesn't say anywhere on the box that it's a quiet pump, so there you go.

This pump is terrific I can not recommend it highly enough. This pump has been operating continuously for the past two and a half years, with more than enough air to supply eight large aquariums. Wonderful product.

It hard to be enthusiastic about an air pump. It works well and I am satisfied with it. Its a little noisy as they all are.
