Great and versatile bear canister
Used this on three trips so far without incident. The canister is easy to open and to secure without tools. The size is great for food for a week or more for one, especially for the weight of just under 3 pounds. I have no worry that bears will learn to open it. The option to use the lid as a pan works well, either as an extra pot or as your only pan to boil water/cook in to save weight.

Good but not great
This thing is kind of a mixed bag it’s heavy but all Bearcans are heavy. I only give it a four star because there’s a chance you could lose the screws so you should probably pick up some extra screws before taking it out . Also the lid is a little redundant because there’s no way to store it other than shoving it in your pack it would be nice if it attached somehow to the top of this . I also didn’t like how the top narrows it would be better if it was open but I see with the design why they did that . If you’re planning on thru hiking I don’t think the added benefit of the pan is worth it I would go with the cheaper can but if you’re for instants going into the wilderness and fishing and cooking fish and what not over a fire this thing would be perfect. Good but not great all in all not a bad product though

... high sierra backpacking trip this year and it worked great. There are two points that could use improvement
I used this for a 7 day high sierra backpacking trip this year and it worked great. There are two points that could use improvement. The first is the pan itself HIGHLY needs a non-stick coating of some sort. Things stick to it when cooking so bad that it has been regulated to specifically heating water and using as a plate or bowl. The second is the plastic connectors for the screws that hold on the lid. The plastic used for them is extremely weak. It took 2 days and somehow one of the screws had been sapped off due to the plastic.Other than those two points awesome product.

A decent bear canister
Just finished a portion of the PCT which included Yosemite. The bear canister did a good job. The only concern is the small electrical wire nuts used to hold the screws are susceptible to coming off. I was able to twist the back on. All in all, a decent bear canister.

Great product! But do not buy if you like the Adirondacks
Light and strong! But unfortunately I live in the Adirondacks, which is no longer accepting this type of bear canister due to the smart bear that figured out how to open them. Sad!

Works and looks just like you think it does
Love the concept, and dual use of the lid, haven't been able to use it yet. It's easy to see into, Easy to pack. And the screws while small; which seems hard to use at first; thread easily and have a nice large thread be (shouldn't be easy to strip or crcross-thread). The cross bar does make packing a bit more planned out for the lid area, but it holds 7+ days of food snacks, and my cook kit with a small amount of room to spare.

No quality
Very low quality came scratched in the Box Crooked I had to straighten the center bar and have to drill out the plastic so the screws go in not happy but need a bear canister tomorrow and if I had time I'd return now the other issue is it's huge like 3 gallons far from what I picturedIf your a handyman with drill press and want to take on the challenge go ahead
