Surprisingly very effective even in UK in October
The focused sun even at low altitude gets a piece of dark wood or paper to smolder.I suggest wearing sunglasses as the reflected spot is very bright!

It doesn't work
I'm late making this review but note I did buy this in the summer.Stood like a lemon, waited about 10 mins with it perfectly aimed in bright sunshine, it doesn't even get the tinder hot, nevermind a chance of any smoke.

Pretty useless unless your on the sahara
Without very strong sunlight you don't get much more than a smoulder and sore eyes from looking at the convergence.

Could not get it to work
Tried everything, couldn't get a flame...And that was in hot European sun...

The product does not work in 3 seconds or a minute.
The product does not work. I have tried lighting cigarettes, cigarette papers, tissue paper and plain A4 paper. I have held the product in place for up to a minute with the sun focused on tissue paper and it did not catch light and my arms hurt.
