One of my favorite video games EVER.. made better!
I LOVED the original Resident Evil. Though I've never been a hard core gamer, I've always enjoyed video games in moderation. This is won of the few games that I could play for hours. My wife and kids got this new HD version for me for Father's Day and I love it! Its still creep and intelligent. I'm sure a lot of people like it for the "killing zombies" aspect but I always liked it most for the problem and puzzle solving aspects, and the storytelling. The first RE was a great game and this is made even better to enjoy of HD TVs. Nicely done! Applauds. LOL

Resident Evil Origins Collection (Xbox One)
Resident Evil: REmake is THE best video game remake, and it still stands the test of time despite being more than a decade old back on the GameCube. It reinvents the first Resident Evil classic game with the perfect horror backdrop of the mansion and puzzles, but mixes things up and adds some new elements that will keep older/original fans interested and new fans entertained by the perfect mix of jump scares, suspense, item management, and mysterious plot that will make you eager to play the next game. Resident Evil: 0, is another great installment and is a direct prequel to the original Resident Evil, and makes sense to be packaged together with REmake because they both came out on the GameCube initially (graphics and environments very similar) and because the stories are connected and take place very closely in the RE timeline. This game changed things up by allowing the gamer to switch between characters throughout the game, and mixing up the item management by being able to drop items wherever you want in the game- proving to be both helpful or time consuming if you have to go back to pick something up you need later. However, this doesn't necessarily detract from the game overall because when you consider many other RE games require you to put items in certain areas (game chests/storage lockers), it's basically the same thing balanced out. I actually wished other RE games continued some of the gameplay elements that this one featured. Thankfully, this XBox One port doesn't have major bugs/glitches that I'm aware of that other collection 'HD' collections have had over the last few, lazy console release years (Bioshock, Silent Hill, etc.), where classic games have received disrespectful treatment for quick cash grabs, counting on diehard fans to quickly purchase.

Itchy. Tasty.
Creepy and fun, and one of the best editions of the original game in the Resident Evil series. Haven't played Zero yet but I'm looking forward to it. You can select original "tank controls" or use a more modern controller scheme, right now I'm using the original controls and it's a fun challenge! Capcom did a very good job with these games; they really nailed the presentation with not just the graphics but in creating an ominous atmosphere with great sound design.

Great Game !!! Very Fun to Play
I purchased this because I had the original for play station many years ago. And I liked it. It comes with two games that are very different but their story lines cross at the end of zero. It's worth the money both games are very entertaining.

If There's Anyplace For A Newcomer To Start, It's At The Beginning.
This 2-game collection is my first foray into the gaming franchise that is Resident Evil, and I have to say that the remastered version of the 2002 REmake has left a very positive impression on me. Graphics are (mostly) beautiful in spite of their age, and the game has an atmosphere of mystery and suspense, along with terror, that makes you want more after you're done. My first true survival horror game was Alien Isolation, and while I appreciate the effort that game made in terms of being terrifying, I did not enjoy being petrified with fear, and so I stayed away from Survival Horror for a while. I'm not badmouthing Alien Isolation, to assuage my fellow Alien fans, I'm simply saying that particular game isn't for me. Resident Evil REmake? Pure GOLD. Numerous difficulty levels allow a newcomer to ease their way into the game and adjust their skills over repeated playthroughs, and the way the game handles different plots and outcomes based on the choices made by the player throughout the game make it worth playing multiple times just to see how far you can go in any direction. Having never played any of the original RE games prior to this, I'm glad that this was my first one. Resident Evil Zero is okay. I didn't enjoy it as much as REmake, but I still found certain aspects of its gameplay mechanics to be an improvement over REmake... and a step backward in a few areas as well. No item boxes means constant backtracking for every single item you need, and this is compounded by the fact that both playable characters only have six inventory spaces, and big weapons take up two spaces each, which leads back to the constant dropping of items. Item dropping itself (along with being able to use an item on its own without needing to pick it up and put it in your inventory) is a nice feature that I wish the REmake had incorporated, given that both games were made and released in the same year. Despite certain drawbacks, RE Zero is still a decent game in its own right. It doesn't quite hit the mark that REmake does, but at least it tried. And the plot, despite being a prequel to RE1, doesn't have any major holes in the story or contradictions to later games, so it can still stand on its own. I highly recommend this collection, as it gives you two remastered games for the price of one modern day game, if not less than most newer releases.

Old School at its finest
With the release of the older Resident evil games being released, I decided to give this game a try. It was shipped fast and I was ready to play. Took only about 20 min to download and install the game with updates, and then I was ready to go back to days of the PS1 and Gamecube. The game looks great, plays smooth with no lag. The best part is the controller options. The game gives you 5 different layout options which pretty much gives you one that you will love. You get 2 games that will give you hours of fun and remind you of some old school classics. A must buy for fans or even new comers to the Resident evil franchise.
