Live It, NOT Diet!: Eat More Not Less. Lose Fat Not Weight

Read Eat Meat and Stop Jogging first. Then be patient until about midway through chapter 2
I found his first book, Eat Meat and Stop Jogging both enjoyable & informative. While you can jump into this one straight away, I feel that a person would be missing much without the first. Still, I find the way of eating proposed in here & the supplement suggestions reasonable & well balanced. This meaning that they are common sense, once you know the reasoning & research behind them & don't go to extremes in any direction to cater to ideology over what things are currently known to be. Additionally, for those interested in the audiobook (I bought both together at a discount by checking the audio box under the Kindle version & adding them both to my amazon.com cart), the reader is excellent throughout. My only wish would be that he'd taken a longer pause when going from one section to another. I had to rewind it back by 30 seconds a few times due to that, but, I think that ultimately helped me retain the material better.

Good content, but poor editing took away from it's potential impact.
It looks like mine is the first 'real' review. The others appear to be promotional. While the content of the book (Kindle version) was very good, I was turned off by the grammar and spelling mistakes. It's 2014 for gosh sakes - there are tools! It didn't appear to have even been proofread by anyone, let alone a professional editor. "To" instead of "too." "Lack of diary fat" Really? I didn't realize that diaries had fat. And the low resolution graphics could have been done much, much better. You zoom in to try to read the words on the graphic, and they're blurry. Again, it's 2014 - how hard is it to use higher resolution graphics? The unfortunate part is that these distracted me and hurt the author's credibility. If he doesn't know the difference between "to" and "too", how can he really know medical-level concepts? This is unfortunate because the message was really good.He presented plenty of references to studies supporting his position of eating more protein and fats, and limiting carbs to very low numbers. It would have been more useful if he had presented more sample daily diet plans, or at least more details. There were two. And the ones he presented didn't show any quantities. And even though quantities would differ for different sized people, a reference point would have been helpful. For example, for my body size I am supposed to eat approx. 140 grams of protein a day. Based on Day One of his Phase 1 plan, the best I could tell, by deduction, is that I would have to eat almost one pound of pork tenderloin for dinner. That's a lot! The challenge that I have had in getting my protein is variety. So providing some guidance, or examples, or even basic recipes would have been very helpful and appreciated. Other than, "Mustard to flavor pork", paired with the tenderloin.Again, I really liked the dietary guidance of the book. it was very good, and his presentation of supporting studies helped make his position convincing. You are just asked to overlook a lot in order to get the message.

Interesting and well documented approach to losing fat
He earns a 5 star in my book because he backs his claims with studies, and the last quarter of the book is nothing but all the studies. I found only one lie, and that is only because I lived in Africa and had a pineapple plant. He said you need to climb the tree to get the fruit. I can tell you that he spoke not of what he knew, but other than that one reference, I found his work first class.

Very Useful
Mike Sheridan, author of Eat Meat and Stop Jogging, brings the world’s attention to the benefits of a low carb diet in Live It NOT Diet. This isn’t an entirely new concept, but Sheridan brings it to life in an easy to understand way that is backed by science and personal exploration.I think the newest piece of information that I personally picked up on was food addiction. I never realized that I was part of the group addicted to food, but it all makes sense now. Our brains respond certain ways to certain foods, and if you don’t understand why your body craves specific things, you’ll never be able to make the lifestyle changes necessary to fix that. Once I started understanding why I was having the cravings I was having, it was easier to address the problem. Sheridan even gave examples as to what kinds of substitutions to use, which makes it much easier to just add those substitutions to a grocery list and immediately begin living a healthier lifestyleThe best thing about this book is that Sheridan provides a lot of health information, but it’s not just about weight loss. It all comes down to living a healthier, more sustainable life. Eating, and life in general, shouldn’t always be about restrictions. Treating yourself once a week is just as important as filling your body with proper fuel the rest of the week. It’s also important to remember that walking every day can be as beneficial as running on a treadmill twice a week. Being healthy doesn’t have to be the scary thing that society portrays it to be. All little changes add up.Just like last time, Sheridan’s book is full of graphs and examples that make following along and applying these tactics to your daily life very easy. His writing is engaging and very easy to understand. I think many people who looking for a sustainable way to become healthy are going to be really happy they picked this book up. I know I am.

Simple to follow, very effective, I’ve lost 9 inches from my waist in 2 months
The way of eating suggested in this book is so simple to follow. It is a ketogenic approach but the author makes it very simple to follow so that you don’t have to worry about tracking or weighing what you eat. After the first few weeks I was eager to try a feast day as suggested. By 4pm though I felt ill and couldn’t eat or drink anything else. The same thing happened the following two feast days and I have now come to the point where I don’t want to have a feast day! Eating bread or sugary things is something my body and brain no longer want. I have followed this way of eating for about 2 months and have lost 9 inches from my waist and 6 from my hips. I feel so much better and I am not craving food all the time which is a first for me. I cannot see a time when I will not want to eat like this, the food is so tasty and satisfying. Before I started this way of eating I was running or doing some kind of cardio every day. I had injuries that I could not recover from in my back, calves and feet. I now walk at least half an hour every day instead which is so much more enjoyable. I no longer take anti inflammatory tablets and gastric protector tablets ... I don’t need them as my body is almost entirely recovered from too much running. I have also reduced the dosage of antidepressant and HRT medication. I think this is because my body is recovering it’s metabolic balance. I can’t thank Mike Sheridan enough for starting me on this journey which has changed my life. Just recently I have also started his strength training which he talks about in his follow on book. It’s a commitment of 15 minutes twice a week so very easy to add in.

A good guide to low-carb lifestyle
Mike has a refreshing approach to the topic, very readable and well documented with a pile of references. I have followed his 21 day phase 1 program and am now on the phase 2 6:1 program. Lost 1" off my hips and 2.5" off my waist - as Mike says build the muscle through diet and as a byproduct lose the weight - in my case down 17 Lbs in 4 weeks.

Radical and it works!
I really liked this author's other book; 'Eat Meat and Stop Jogging' so I was keen to find out more. This book continues where the other one left off and elaborates further on why traditional diets simply don't work. I love the author's down to earth, common sense approach to diet and exercise. It is so refreshing to find a completely different take on weight loss and fitness; personally I find that everything Mike Sheridan says makes perfect sense. If you've tried every diet going with little or no success then I would most definitely recommend this book and indeed the other books by this author. His approach is radical and his thinking completely 'outside the box' but his advice allows you to achieve the results you've always dreamed of.
