Very good question. Technically yes you are correct. This coin is from Australia and does have a 1 Dollar denomination written on it as it's required for all currency produced by Australia to have a denomination on it. You could technically spend it as 1 Dollar in Australia, but obviously the precious metals value is far more valuable so we've never seen it actually been done. Thank you for your question.
