Nice drive seems to be cost effective for a 15k SAS drive
Nice drive from a very reputable manufacturer. Have only had it up for a few weeks have not verified all the necessary drivers are up to date in order to check throughout but seems to work just fine. Loaded their Seatools for windows on the box, nice until. Have used Seagate drives professionally before with no complaints they seem to hold up.

Good Drive - Caution where you buy it
Even though this is an End-of-Life Seagate product, it is still a very good drive. I do recommend researching who is supporting the warranty of the drive; the vendor, or the manufacturer. Seagate will warranty this drive for 5 years if it is part of a special buy, else you are stuck with vendor support - beware! If this is an important item for you, get it in writing from your vendor before you buy.

That it works!
Replaced two drives that were supposedly new from another vendor. Both those drives failed. These work perfectly.

New disk, which works straight away.
Was used in an older Dell server with raid. Since this disk does not have software from dell, it lights up yellow in the raid, but works without problems. Original disks through dell cost 3-4 times as much. Maybe it can turn green by updating the disk controller.

These drives are recertified, not new, so you're now warned.
Let me be clear. This review is not about the performance of the Seagate Drive itself, but about the actual drive I received from TEK SOLUTIONS. No where in the listing for this drive did it say anything about being a recertified drive, but it is. I did a quick query on Seagate's website on the warranty status of the drive and it lists each drive I ordered as: "This product was sold through the recertified sales program and is not warrantied by Seagate."It would have been nice if the company actually listed these drives as "recertified" and not try to lead people into thinking they are NOS (New Old Stock). These drives might be ok for a temporary, emergency repair on a failed array, but that's about it.Buyer beware, indeed.

Not a replacement for Dell Server Hard Drive with same Model Number
Though the model number is exactly the same, this is NOT a suitable replacement for a Dell branded hard drive with the same model number. When I plugged one of these into our RAID array, the size was 0.12GB different, and the RAID array would not rebuild. If you need a hard drive to replace a hard drive in a Dell server, particularly if part of a RAID array, this is NOT the correct product. Hopefully this helps someone else form a mistaken purchase. Otherwise working with the seller for the return has been great.

Expecting Performance and Longevity Exactly Like Original Server Hard Drive
I bought this drive because I needed one that was identical to a drive that failed in a Dell PowerEdge server with a 3-drive RAID. As expected, it performs just like the original one did. However, at this point in time, 600GB is small for a server hard drive, and since the failed drive was the exact same model as this one, I won't know for some time if these drives only last about 4 years or if the failure of the original drive was a fluke.

Surprised that it was actually new and not refurbished
The two drives came sealed in an antistatic bag and was exactly what I ordered to replace the bad hard drives in a Dell server. They were brand new drives that had been manufactured in 2012. While they are only 600 GB, they are 15,000 RPM (which can be noisy when spinning at top speed), matching what they replaced. The Dell System Manager does show a yellow triangle warning that they are not Dell drives, but that is not a problem: they just don't have the Dell code in the drive controller. I would definitely buy again if my client needs more.
