Water really taste good
The water it really taste as from the bottle ones , it’s clear and clean water, I even use for my kettle and coz my kettle is clear glass I can see how much limescale is building and so far is holding for over a week , before when I used from tap water straight away after the first use I could see the limescale starting to appear, well so far so good , till now is being an amazing water jug I hope the filter holds for long coz they are really expensive. Ye it’s a very nice jug filtering well the water , I had a few ones before and this it really does the job 👍👍.

Hugely disappointing
I rarely write reviews but I had to with this. I sung the praises of this water filter to start with as it filtered our water beautifully with no nasty after taste. However!!! Whilst our water reading was quite high, it was not astronomical and the filters have only lasted 5 days. Not only does that mean we can not afford to keep purchasing that many filters but the waste is horrendous! There is no method to recycle filters resulting in a filter a week in the general waste. Awful! Can not recommend.

Literally Zero
Brilliant water system. Good design. Comes with 2 spare filters plus one in the jug itself. Also a testing stick attached to the lid of the jug reads the water let's you know if water is zero. You can actually taste the difference immediately. No cloudiness, no chlorine, just good water. Filters last very long. The jug holds plenty of water as it's just for me. Wash with soap and rinse well.

Simple and easy to setup and use.
I like the convenience and quality of filtration system. Sadly after a few uses I noticed to storage compartment for the meter is not a good design, after filling a little too much a couple of times, water got into the storage compartment which meant it also got into the meters battery compartment and obviously it is no longer functioning. I have passed the issue to the company to request a new meter ( which I would no longer leave sat on top of the jug!) sadly they haven’t got back to me 😏

Does this water filter do what it claims to do? Please see update
Total dissolved solids or, TDS for short, is a water quality parameter that measures the total concentration of inorganic material, natural particles, metals, chemicals, substances, compounds, salts and organic matter in water. This can be measured in parts per million (ppm) with a TDS meter such as is provided with this jug. The main contributor to the TDS of your tap water will be the harmless dissloved minerals which determine whether your tap water is 'hard' or 'soft'. The other contaminants will simply contribute as a tiny % to the TDS reading, but cannot be measured separately outside of a laboratory. You can however buy a test to determine the amount of chlorine added by your water provider. 200 ppm is typically the diving line between moderately hard and hard water. Having used a Reverse Osmosis Filter system for many years for making large quantities of pure water for use in a marine aquarium I was sceptical about the claim that this unpressurised filter could produce a TDS of zero, which is what an RO filter does. A professional quality TDS meter is not cheap so I was also dubious that Zero Water could sell one that worked properly as part of this package at this overall price. However, I have been pleasantly surprised. The TDS of the filtered water is indeed zero and this was confirmed by a professional Hanna Instruments TDS meter which has a separate electrode. The life-span of the filter will depend upon how much water you filter and will depend upon the TDS of your tapwater. The packaging makes this clear. So if your tap water is 'hard' and has a high TDS there is more dissolved material to be removed and the life of the filter will be correspondlingly shortened. A rising TDS of the filtered water will indicate this gradual reduction in the quality of the filtered water. These filter cartrisges are undeniably expensive, around £12.50 each if you buy 4. BRITA cartrdiges are considerably cheaper but only remove about 30% of the total dissolved solids. However, BRITA cartridges do appear to remove the trace contaminants effectively. They just do not remove so much of the mineral content. ZERO WATER filters produce very pure water, stripping out apparently all dissolved solids. I think it fair to say that BRITA do not make that claim. So it really does depend on what you are looking for: if you want extremely pure water than ZERO WATER will do the job in small quantities and at a cost. If a certain level of harmless mineral contant is not an issue for you then BRITA is far more economical and does remove the undesirable contaminants. I would point out that a TDS meter must be recalibrated periodically using a specialised recalibration fluid at a precisley determined TDS, usually 1413 micro-siemens. It would seem that the TDS meter provided by ZERO WATER cannot be reclaibrated. It's accuracy will therefore drift off over time and through use. The metter will not indicate that it needs recalibrating. The only way to check will be by buying a TDS recalibration fluid. If the meter reads the fluid inaccurately, that discepancy will be what is known as the meter's 'offset' at that moment, which will be a figure either above or below the TDS of the calibration fluid. Since this metter cannot be recalibrated you will then have to factor this offset into the reading given by this TDS meter. Or get hold of a better quality TDS meter which can be properly recalibrated UPDATE NOVEMBER 2022 I am now agreeing with those reviewers who have noticed a disagreeable smell from the filter and/or the filtered water. Having looked into this in quite some detail it appears to be the result of certain of the filter's component materials becoming exhausted. Once this smell is detected the TDS of the filtered water will be seen to have risen from zero, perhaps considerably, indicating that the filter is no longer doing its job. According to uswater.org: " a moderate amount of contaminants (around 002-050 reading on your TDS meter) will give you about 150 liters of clean water. Meanwhile, a high reading (around 201-300) is expected only to produce 55 to 95 liters of clean water. In extreme cases where the TDS reading is 401 above, the anticipated quantity of clean water will only be 30 liters." My tap water is very hard - TDS of around 300. The above statistics suggesting that I can expect between 55 and 95 litres from one cartridge seem to accord with my own experience. This is a really rather short life-span - 55 litres or so is not a lot of filtered water. Thus my initial enthusiasm has been dampened simply becasue the replacement cartridges are so expensive. The current filter has lasted 22 days making about 3 liters of water per day. I would strongly suggest getting hold of a decent TDS meter and testing your tapwater BEFORE investing in Zero Water. If your TDS reading is on the high side, the cost of replacement cartridges could quickly prove prohibitive.

Refreshing!
Filter works as expected. Have been using it for about two months. I fill the jug every morning and use it throughout the day for making coffee and normal water consumption. 2 months later, the water that goes in reads about 85 on the TDS meter and after filtration at 0 TDS. After filling the jug I put in the fridge immediately and of course keep it out of direct sunlight. I clean the jug on the inside every week or so. Not sure what people complaining about strange flavour and/or odour are doing with their water filter, but I have none of these issues. I highly recommend this product. UPDATE October 4th 2022 I'm still using the filter I placed when I received the product, it's still as effective as from day one. There are still no odours or strange tastes. Perfectly fine crystal clear water.

Worked amazing until the whole thing including the water started smelling like rotten fish. My kettle, baby bottles everything started smelling like rotten fish :(

Good sell but just not worth the expense
Spent extra as thought the extra filtering would mean a better output, not the case. Filters lasted about 2 or 3 weeks before giving a fishy smell, the solution buy more! Not for me at the price of the filters. The taste of the water isn't nice, even if it is extra filtered. That being said I liked the look of the jug before I got to use it, then found out the water just comes out of the back if there is slightly too much water. All in all lesson learnt, I certainly won't be poorer without the fishy water.

I continue to use the water testing stick and I truly believe this blows all the filters I've previously had out the water *pun intended*. I'm really happy with this purchase. Yes it will filter minerals out the water but also all the gunk out of your tap water as well. I think it's well worth it.

I live in my RV in a large park which is on well water. I routinely buy Kona and Blue Jamaica Peaberry coffees, among others. I brew up single cups at a time from freshly roasted whole beans in a burr grinder and use a French press. In the past I've tried different bottled waters and noticed big changes in the coffee taste. This got me wondering about how to come up with a consistent high quality water for the coffee. I was debating about installing a 6 stage reverse osmosis system but didn't really want to do the plumbing work and fit it under the sink. During research for that I heard about the ZeroWater products. Because the cost/risk is so low, I decided to try it out. Wow. Just wow. First, you get a good TDS meter with the pitcher. Municipal water came in at 198 PPM. I then tested the well water at the park and it came in at 52 PPM (!!). This is extraordinary and further research revealed that the park also uses extensive UV to destroy bacteria in the well water. Without the included TDS meter I never would have know just how good the park water already is. Nevertheless, the ZeroWater pitcher dropped it from 52 to 0 - as advertised. It also filtered quite quickly. A glass of water tasted very interesting. Very clean. Also, a good aftertaste. I knew it would taste different and I think it's very good. Because my source water is already at ~52 PPM I expect the filter to last a long time, and this was important to me. I spoke about it with my neighbor and she had a new Britta unit so we tested her tap water (also 52 PPM) and her Britta water came out at half that, 25 PPM. Very good. She also had a new bottle of Kirkland brand bottled water, get this, 168 PPM. In other words, more than 3x worse than her existing tap water !! And she was PAYING money for it. As for the coffee, it was a complete change from the already decent tap water. It was, literally, a different cup of coffee. I will likely have to alter my recipe but it was very noticeable. However, at the same time as I used the filtered water, I also used an ultrasonic cleaner to clean the French Press. I find this is the only way to truly scrub the oils from the mesh screens and the stainless parts. And that too makes a HUGE difference in the coffee taste. At least as much as the clean water. So once it 'colors' again (there seems to be a sweet spot) I won't know for sure if a recipe change is needed. One thing is for sure, it was a CLEAN cup of coffee! Bottom line, I'm sold on the ZeroWater system. I now have a consistent water (benchmark) to use on a permanent basis that will not change over time. But it's not just coffee, I'll be drinking more water and now know that my source water is already better than most bottled waters..making them a step backwards. Most of the negative reviews are from users that don't understand the product or it's target market. If your water is really bad, this will fix it, but you will have to buy more filters. In my case, I'm lucky and my filter may last for an entire year. But if your water is that bad, then that's just the price you pay to fix it. Oh, and as for people complaining about speed, I tested my neighbors Britta and saw no appreciable difference...other than that, of course, the ZeroWater system scrubs all of the TDS out of the water leaving you with 000......which, just so you know, no reverse osmosis system can match.....so...an inexpensive jug you just fill and put in your fridge, or a great deal of time and money building out an RO system that won't match the ZeroWater pitcher.... 1 Year update. Shortly after leaving the review I moved to another park with .22 TDS - so very good water there too. I've been here a year and I'm still on the original filter and it still scrubs the water to .000 So with good source water, the filter will really last. I use an average of one entire pitcher each day! Side note, this filter scrubs the water so well that you can use it to top up water in 12V batteries and it's also used in my steam cleaner to reduce scale buildup. Just got one for my parents and they have .150 TDS at the tap so we'll see how long the filter lasts at that level but we're still on our first filters one year later.

Het water is echt beter dan een Brita. Zachter en schoner. De filter moet iedere maand vervangen worden, dus daarmee kom je op een bedrag van 200€ per jaar uit voor je filter. Dat is wel behoorlijk aan de prijs!
