Treasure found here
I walked into a record store and heard one of Broadcast's albums and I immediately liked it alot. This band has a very 60's sci-fi psych flavor with a contemporary/indie sound if you know what I mean. It's spooky but not dark. It's melodic and has a texture of film and analog tape but with a slightly jazzy drumset sound...It's a bunch of interesting things put together in a modern way. The song "Come on let's go" was a stand out track (not on this album) and I asked the clerk who they were playing. I filed away the name of the band and ended up buying "Work and non work" on Amazon for an incredible price. I also bought "Ha ha sound" but didn't like it nearly as much as W&NW. Nonetheless I will be buying more of their cd's for sure! How come I hadn't heard of this band from the 90's sooner?

Brilliant album by an amazing band!
Broadcast are my second favorite band of all time and even their earliest records, like this one, were nothing short of genius. A few songs on this record actually sound better on vinyl than in digital. Gorgeous!

Great Album.
This album gave me great visuals upon listening to it. The electronic blips weren't overkill, and this album has a nice mood. Electronic but not too noisy. Their fist three albums were my favorite. Not to be confused with Stereolab, and Portishead, they are a whole different animal. In fact l like them better then those other bands. It was a pleasure to have found them. I keep them on my mp3 player.

Broadcast - Work And Non Work
Broadcast's first album, Work and Non Work, is actually a compilation of early singles and EPs. It's a wonderful introduction to the band and their unique sound. At once emotional and icily cool, the band's combination of Trish Keenan's high vocals and harpsichord-like synths becomes something beautiful and fractal. Their use of off-kilter melodies and modal harmonies crashed into a distinct pop sensibility is evident on "Messages From Home." Eerie cinematics comes to the forefront, as well, on instrumentals like "Phantom." Broadcast's lyrics are actually of worth to listen to and complement the music hand-in-glove; listen, for instance, to the plaintive longing of "Lights Out." It's the thinking person's pop music.

not wholly original
I just want to respond the Kwn and say that Broadcast is an execellent band and i will continue to purchase their albums as long as its quality music BUT they have a very closely related sound to The United States of America. so if you truly love Broadcast, don't hesitate to buy the USA.
