Simple Steaming, Perfect Results.
I recently got this mini vegetable steamer, and it’s been a great addition to my kitchen. I bought it to replace the old one that broke and I've been using it to steam vegetables and cook eggs. It's super easy to use, clean, and store, which is perfect for a small kitchen. The vegetables come out tender and tasty every time, and it’s just the right size for a small family. It’s nothing fancy, but it works really well, and I’m very satisfied with it.

Works great
Works great. Looks nice in my countertop. Will be used much more often as I need to be adding more and more veggies to my diet. And I loved them steamed. Will continue to use it. Cleaning wasn’t too bad. I like the little insert at the bottom and doesn’t drop as much to the bottom like my other one that was similar. No noise at all. Perfect amount of veggies fit for my small family.

Fussy Eater says: so far it meets 120% of my highest expectation.
So yeah I am a fussy eater but I mean like in everything I buy and how I do things even though it takes me a long long time to figure out the best way and this is one of those ways. So the first thing I want to tell you is that you can indeed stack the base inside the bottom cover. I only have the one layer and I bought it used and it was like new indeed. Haven't even plugged it in yet. We'll get to that for dinner. But how you do that? you basically stuff the electric cord into the top so that it's not falling out. And you turn the ears of the cover so that they face the electric cord where it comes out and the knob for the timer where it sticks out. now the cover will bend and the base will slide right in. It won't do that in any other position... And the cover is made of old school Tupperware material. Great! And the base is substantial and the heating element is quite large also great . And the timer looks perfectly solid. It's literally a spring round compound timer that can handle the wattage. So great again! So I'm thrilled. What can I say? I'll be back to let you know how good it is with food! 😁😛

How do you mess this up?
This little steamer should have been great but it's NOT. The steamer basket comes apart in 2 separate pieces - the center of the bottom is a separate piece that just sits in there so when you dump your cooked veggies into a bowl to serve, the plastic center falls on top of them. Also, the lid on mine didn't fit. It looked like it was for a slightly different product. Returned immediately.

Okay for the price
So we needed a little steamer anyway. I wanted to be able to steam vegetables and didn't want to use the microwave anymore. My mom also steams a lot of stuff like Korean rice cakes so I thought this would be a good addition to our little team of kitchen appliances.I first tried to steam some home made banh baos in this little steamer. I could fit three medium size baos in each level. Of course there wasn't as much steam rising to the top level as much as I thought there would be. I thought maybe that was because of the parchment paper on the bottom of each bao stopping the steam from rising. Later, I found out that wasn't really the case. So the ones on the bottom tray were ready way before the other ones - so I just ended up rotating them out and it worked out perfectly. So after all the baos were cooked I realized that there was a LOT of condensation in the trays which means that all of them were getting steam, it's just that the steam in the top tray wasn't as hot as the second's and the second's wasn't as hot as the bottom's. Maybe it was because it was because of the type of food being cooked and the steam absorption. The water reservoir isn't very big and doesn't hold very much water. I had to refill it a second time but filled it with hot water from the kettle so I wouldn't waste any time. As you can see, there was some flour from the baos on the side of the reservoir/base from the baos after all the steaming was done. I was able to wipe everything out though.Be careful with the middle of the steaming trays when you are cleaning them. I forgot that they pop out. I don't think that all the food will steam evenly but I think that might work to my advantage. Maybe put sweet potatoes on the bottom and other veges in the other trays. Like I said, if you rotate them out, the cooking evens out, so you're good. Overalll, not a bad buy. For the price, I really can't complain. I'm still looking forward to cooking with it.
