Awesome and easy to use
This stuff is awesome. Unlike dye and even some temporary colors, this washes out entirely with one shampooing. It doesn't make a mess like many hair chalks - it reminds me of a crayon (but much softer). And the price is great for the value. I use it to "tip" the ends of my short blonde hair, giving me a more textured look. I can vary the color from subtle to intense by coloring more hair and/or applying more pressure for a denser application. I've been using it on my hair almost daily for several weeks, and while I have worn down the color sticks a bit, I haven't used more than 20% of the product. For work, I like to have softly tipped hair in green or purple. Yes, I wear it to work. I hold my hair with my left hand and rub in the color in. The product is a little bit sticky at first, but completely stabilizes in about a minute. I have slept with this color in my hair and it hasn't come off on the pillow. I do need to wash my hands thoroughly after applying, so I have started using a plastic glove on my left hand. Downside: it does not work on darker hair. I tried to color a streak in my granddaughter's hair, which is a medium-dark brown. No matter how much I rubbed, the green color hardly showed up at all. You *might* be able to get the grey or yellow to work better on dark hair, but then this isn't such a great value - you can't really use half the colors. However, I believe that you could use the colors as body/face paint as well. Be sure to let the product set though. If your hair color is light - skip the chalk and skip the dye - this is easy to use, not messy to apply, inexpensive and looks great.

Best thing EVER for my preteen!
Detailed review: I dye my hair a lot, so naturally, my little beauty wants to be like mommy. She is only 11, and I am not one that feels this is old enough to put real dye in her hair. So we bought several kinds of temporary hair chalks over the years (this part is NOT about THIS hair chalk). From compacts to combs and pastel shaped chalks or oils. They all gave us fried, impossible to move, smelly, waxy, color bleeding, rat nest, and/or dirty looking hair outcomes. That's where I did some digging and was absolutely excited for christmas when I found these. (This part IS about THIS hair chalk) The reviews were mixed so I took a gamble and I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER BRAND OTHER THAN THIS ONE AGAIN! We were having a girls spa evening before a school night shower. And she asked to try these pens in her hair. I was terrified as it was a school night and other chalks left color in her fair hair for weeks (she goes to a private school, and they have a 0 tolerance policy for hair dye). Well, trying to keep the good momentum of the night going, I let her...and we got carried away with a rainbow spectrum in her bangs (see photo). It was awesome, drew on easy with a support under the hair (I used the box it came in), it has a texture like lipstick when drawing on, our first try I went a bit heavy for a color trial. It smelled GREAT, not overpowering at all (yellow = lemon, green = apple, blue = blueberry, pink = berry or cherry?, purple = grape, silver = gingerbread/christmas?). The colors were solid, so in her strawberry blonde hair it was vibrant but still lifted to show a true shade. In darker hair I imagine it would be just fine as well. We waited for about a minute, a bit more than the directions guided, then...BRUSHED THROUGH THE BANGS WITH EASE, THAT'S RIGHT! It was a nice natural feeling, a tad oily in our thin Caucasian hair, but not enough to look dirty. It wasn't dry, it was moveable, and brushing and lightly playing with it caused no bleed to clothes, sofa, hair brush, forehead, or hands! I took pictures and video as I was sure I had found the holy grail of temporary hair chalk for me and my several other friends girls...then one girlfriends reminded me..."Isn't it a school night? Your gonna be in trouble! :O" OOooOOoo nooooo! It needs to come out tonight and be 100% out for tomorrow D: What did I do?! These 5 colors (pink, yellow, green, blue, purple) will NEVER all come out, pink has stayed in forever with other chalks in the past. I was doomed for sure, right? Well, I helped my girl in the shower and told her to focus on her bangs color getting washed out. To my surprise in like 3 minutes she called me back to check her hair...IT WAS 100% GONE, NO TRACE! I asked her what she did and she said, "I just washed it under the water, and it got kinda goopy feeling for a second, then I saw the color go down the drain." I was a amazed! Her hair feels healthy, no damage, and no sign of color! If you want a night or day style that doesn't follow you or give away your fun for a weekend afterwards, lets your hair look nice, and doesn't easily bleed, GET THIS! Just DO NOT wear it out in the rain ;)

Bright colors with a little stiffness
Colors go on easily and are vibrant on my brown hair. Love that they wash out in one shampoo. I applied by pinching sections of hair between the marker and my fingers, and then sliding down to the ends of my hair. It was messy on my hands, but made the most vibrant colors, and my hands cleaned up quickly with soap and water. The colors blended easily for an amazing, oil slick look. I had no issues with it rubbing off on my clothes, but never tried sleeping with it in. The only drawback is that it makes your hair clump a bit and feel stiff... similar to a strong mousse or hairspray (which is why I didn't want to sleep with it in, for fear of the rat's nest I might wake up to!) Otherwise, I love these for a temporary pop of color with no bleaching or damage!

Great VISIBLE colors, but stiff and sticky
The colors are GREAT!! lasts all day, but like most temporary coloring products this product also makes your hair stuff and sticky (the reason why I am giving 3 stars). I have tried excessive combing/brushing of my hair where I place the color but it still sticks and stiffens (in one picture i shared you can see my fingers are stuck in my hair where the color starts and another picture shows how the hair sticks/stiffens). Applying the color is like coloring your hair with a marker your fingers and hands WILL get messy but the plus is it is easily removed with simply water. The color can also rub off on clothing (As you can hopefully see in my pics). With this said the color also washed out of your hair and clothing extremely easily, basically with just water so one wash and done. Even though I have 3 stars I do recommend this product!! Again ALL the colors show up great on my blonde hair and on my daughter's light blonde hair (with the exception of the silver for her hair, it shows just not as bright like the other colors) if you but this product have fun, I recommend using this product on updos or a set style that doesn't need a lot of movement
