I never write reviews, but in this case I'm making an exception. This stuff is amazing. My 10 year old daughter and I both use and love the metallic color set. We were pleased that the colors didn't look exactly metallic when we first used them, but rather they have a slight sparkle that we love.Most recently, we used this product prior to hiking 5+ miles and then swimming in a heated pool. Although the color may have faded slightly after an hour in the pool, it didn't come out and we could still brush our hair out. I didn't even notice it coming off on the white pool towels or pillow cases (which thrilled me). When we washed our hair, the color came right out of even the most chemically bleached blond parts of my hair. No residual color after one shampoo.This temporary hair color is the consistency of a hardish chapstick until it dries on your hair (in 5 minutes or so) & then you can brush through your hair.It's easy to color your hair by holding the section you wish to color in your hand and then coloring it on like a marker. It washes right off your hands when you're finished, using regular soap and water.Just like with Chapstick, lipstick or eyeliner - if you turn the knob too much and excess product is protruding from the applicator end, be sure not to press too hard or it will crumble a bit. Most adults will know better than to do that, but my daughter had that issue the second time she used it because she's just learning to apply makeup. Nonetheless, it cleaned up easily, and she learned an important lesson about how not to turn the end of makeup applicators (or hair color, in this case) too much because the excess can break or crumble.This is a fantastic product for kids (and adults) who want to express themselves with fun colors or color ombré in their hair, but aren't ready for the commitment of permanent alternative hair color, such as, "Manic Panic", just yet. My daughter and I both love it.

Detailed review: I dye my hair a lot, so naturally, my little beauty wants to be like mommy. She is only 11, and I am not one that feels this is old enough to put real dye in her hair. So we bought several kinds of temporary hair chalks over the years (this part is NOT about THIS hair chalk). From compacts to combs and pastel shaped chalks or oils. They all gave us fried, impossible to move, smelly, waxy, color bleeding, rat nest, and/or dirty looking hair outcomes.That's where I did some digging and was absolutely excited for christmas when I found these. (This part IS about THIS hair chalk) The reviews were mixed so I took a gamble and I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER BRAND OTHER THAN THIS ONE AGAIN! We were having a girls spa evening before a school night shower. And she asked to try these pens in her hair. I was terrified as it was a school night and other chalks left color in her fair hair for weeks (she goes to a private school, and they have a 0 tolerance policy for hair dye). Well, trying to keep the good momentum of the night going, I let her...and we got carried away with a rainbow spectrum in her bangs (see photo).It was awesome, drew on easy with a support under the hair (I used the box it came in), it has a texture like lipstick when drawing on, our first try I went a bit heavy for a color trial. It smelled GREAT, not overpowering at all (yellow = lemon, green = apple, blue = blueberry, pink = berry or cherry?, purple = grape, silver = gingerbread/christmas?). The colors were solid, so in her strawberry blonde hair it was vibrant but still lifted to show a true shade. In darker hair I imagine it would be just fine as well.We waited for about a minute, a bit more than the directions guided, then...BRUSHED THROUGH THE BANGS WITH EASE, THAT'S RIGHT! It was a nice natural feeling, a tad oily in our thin Caucasian hair, but not enough to look dirty. It wasn't dry, it was moveable, and brushing and lightly playing with it caused no bleed to clothes, sofa, hair brush, forehead, or hands! I took pictures and video as I was sure I had found the holy grail of temporary hair chalk for me and my several other friends girls...then one girlfriends reminded me..."Isn't it a school night? Your gonna be in trouble! :O"OOooOOoo nooooo! It needs to come out tonight and be 100% out for tomorrow D: What did I do?! These 5 colors (pink, yellow, green, blue, purple) will NEVER all come out, pink has stayed in forever with other chalks in the past. I was doomed for sure, right?Well, I helped my girl in the shower and told her to focus on her bangs color getting washed out. To my surprise in like 3 minutes she called me back to check her hair...IT WAS 100% GONE, NO TRACE! I asked her what she did and she said, "I just washed it under the water, and it got kinda goopy feeling for a second, then I saw the color go down the drain." I was a amazed! Her hair feels healthy, no damage, and no sign of color!If you want a night or day style that doesn't follow you or give away your fun for a weekend afterwards, lets your hair look nice, and doesn't easily bleed, GET THIS! Just DO NOT wear it out in the rain ;)

I want you to know that I do not wear this hair chalk on my hair but as eye shadow. Using the color wheel, I can combine colors to fit any outfit I have. I have close eyes and I was told that if I put a light color in between them, the will look farther apart and I will look better. So I use the silver and if you press this softly, you get a light color from all the rest also! I hate to say it but since I have to wear glasses, I accent my eyes by almost going punk rocker so people will look at God in me in my eyes. I really like the crayon application sticks and they LAST. I still have the color from the top of the shadows! I not only have not had to use the twist to make the chalk go up to use, I have not even had to twist at all. They look barely used and I have been using them for 2 months almost daily. For the price, they are a good starter kit to see if you like chalk eye shadow!Now for the reason I rated them low. I actually discovered using hair chalk with the brand Color Smash and I put Color Smash on with my finger so I cannot get the light color from the darker color I am using (Or mix the colors as well as with the Hair Chalk above) but over time say 5 hours, the Color Smash is exactly where I put it but the Hair chalk here was chunking up. With Color Smash I can leave it on for 3 days and it really stays vibrant. Remember that most make-ups, lipsticks and eye shadows slide off my face in 30 minutes so you can imagine my joy in something I do not have to keep checking my mirror to see if I need to reapply the above chalk.. I cannot count on the above color to even be there tomorrow much less look good. It may be great for those using it for Hair Chalk but I'm going to try something else on my next buy.
