Mesmerizing - Real high quality wind spinner
As a birthday present, my wife wanted a wind spinner for the yard. I researched a number of spinners ( pinwheel and other styles) and found there were many inexpensive ones that got poor reviews for quality and performance. I also found the Stanwood brand wind sculptures here on Amazon and noticed they got rave reviews.I finally reasoned.....Why pay $60 for a piece of junk that barely spins and probably wouldn't last long? Why not invest in a quality piece that actually worked, looks like an art piece and will last for years. So I opted for the Stanwood Dancing Willow Leaves spinner.I can tell you, this Stanwood wind sculpture exceeded my expectations. It is well designed with solid copper and solid brass components. No cheap coatings or fake plated brass stuff. It looks like a metal sculpture you would pick up at an artist's studio.I particularly liked the steel ball bearings which allow the twin spinners to whirl ( in opposite directions) in the slightest breeze and the whole head assembly to freely turn so the spinners face into the wind. Clearly, a lot of thought and care went into the design.Even the three stakes supplied to securely anchor the sculpture in your lawn are, amazingly, made from 3/8" solid copper rod. Now, here in Nevada, we really don't have lawns and the ground is rocky so I opted to buy a concrete H block from a Home Store, bury it in the ground and fill it with concrete which holds a short length of schedule 40 PVC pipe as a socket for the copper upright pole. The copper pole fits PERFECTLY inside the schedule 40 PVC.As a final touch, I decided to spray the sculpture with a clear coating designed to keep exterior copper bright and shiny for years(Everbrite brand). Some people like the way copper ages outside. It turns brownish and eventually develops a greenish patina. I decided to maintain the bright coppery look. Now, words of warning........Be aware that there are cheaper imitators of this type of sculpture out there selling in the $99 range. They are NOT Stanwood brand and I suspect they are made of cheaper materials and may not have the high quality ball bearings. You make the call. I highly recommend the genuine Stanwood brand .If you're uncertain, I recommend you take a look on YouTube. Search Stanwood Wind Sculpture . Nice movies of the sculptures in action. It sold me.

Best Spinner I ever had
Construction is heavy duty, material are about the best you can get, assembly took minutes, looks great and spins with barely any wind. Hope the brass and copper stays looking new for years. Expensive but highly recommend.

wind sculpture
I love this wind sculpture. It works wonderfully, and is absolutely fascinating to watch. It spins in the slightest wind. I placed it inside a 1 inch galvanized piece of pipe, 18 inches long with an end cap and made a hole in the ground to place the pipe in the ground. The copper tube stand is very sturdy, and it fits perfectly into the galvanized pipe sleeve that I put into the ground. I used the small plastic sleeves that came with the wind sculpture as shims between the copper stand and the galvanized sleeve in the ground and that fits perfectly, and keeps the wind sculpture copper stand from shaking or rubbing against the pipe and the copper, preventing wear on the softer copper stand. Also, I can remove the copper stand and sculpture easily in one piece, if I want to store it for winter or when I am gone for an extended time. Copper is expensive, and the stand is very sturdy and made of heavy copper, and I can imagine someone wanting to take it to sell for scrap. It is a real piece of art, and well made, and constructed with good bearings. I love it. Worth every penny, if this sort of thing turns you on? It did and does me. All the neighbors love it.

Fascinating!
I could sit for hours and watch this lovely sculpture enliven my garden. It arrived in a large, heavy box and I was a little concerned (because I'm the do-it-yourselfer in the family, not my husband, but I needn't have worried. The instructions were clear, easy to follow, and truthfully, I had this in place in less than half an hour. I'm stuck a 12" piece of rebar that I had lying around into the hole before I put the copper pipe over it. I wanted to see if it would make a difference. Probably not; I think a longer piece would have been better, but I figured I could always replace the rebar if needed. So far, no tilting or bending so maybe I'll be OK. We do live on the side of a mountain, though, and this is late spring/early summer. Winds haven't been gale force yet, as they are in the fall and early spring. Other people said it will hold up just fine and I believe it. That tubing is very thick. This is a well made product. The two halves of the spinner are effortless; quiet and smooth. I bought this after reading all of the favorable reviews. I'm glad I did. You will be, too. Spend a little extra and get quality that will last for years. I certainly intend to take good care of it so I can enjoy it in my yard for years to come.

Want the best? This is it!
This wind spinner is - hands down - the best one we have ever had. Solid as a rock and spins with mere whiffs of wind. Yes, it is expensive, but I think this will last decades in our yard. We will let it oxidize but will enjoy the bright copper color while it lasts. Our past wind spinners lasted two to three years at the most.

Well made
I purchased this based on other reviews and I am glad I did. Even my husband comments on how nice it looks and mesmerizing to watch. Instructions were easy to follow and we did put a few coats of clear rust oleum on it.
