Strong, made in US. Easy install
Raco makes good quality products. Ideal for installation on my exposed beams patio. I ordered two boxes and, like others stated, one was missing a lag screw but discovered it was at thw bottom of the shipping box.

did exactly what its supposed to do.
Used to install a new ceiling fan on porch easy to attach to existing 2x4 and hang the fan.

Perfect for new ceiling fan and light install
Attached directly to one of the truss beams for a new ceiling fan with light install. It was quite the project given the unbearable and cramped conditions in my attic. Have vaulted ceilings (though not an overly severe angle) and with the excess of installed insulation, generally inconvenient location, very limited head room, and wider than ideal distance between truss beams (24 inch centers), I wasn't confident with using a T-Brace--particularly since many of the 'easy-install' T-Brace's specifically state they are not to be used on trusses. And truss specific T-Braces generally required better access than I really could muster without tearing up large portions of the ceiling drywall . So installing directly on the beam seemed like the better option, though It did require I go a few inches from true center of the room--but within 4-6 inches of center, so not a big deal to me. Running new romex to the location of the install was exceedingly difficult, as was finding a power source (these late 80s built homes just don't seem to have their electrical wiring thought out well--much bigger chore than I imagined at the outset). And it really turned out the easiest part of the exercise was installing this fixture box and mounting the ceiling fan. Not a ton of room in the box for the wires, but sufficient. So as long as your beam location is acceptable for where you want to hang your fan/light fixture, highly recommended solution--and definitely glad I used it instead of the T-Brace. Rock solid for the 54" Hampton Bay ceiling fan and light fixture I installed.

Missing parts
Half the units I bought were missing either the center screws, lag bolts or both.

Novel idea.
I’m human and I have ran into rafters, studs more than once. It’s frustrating but you have to finish the job and this type of box gives you a easy work around that’s fast, simple and strong.

beats those big metal bars
These work great if you are doing new construction. Well, that is how I used them, but even installing a new fan in a already finished room, will make your life much easier. I like them!
