Has anyone tested to see if it is actually waterproof OR simply water resistant? Like could it protect things if submerged in pool or flood?

NOT waterproof! Wife had her phone in one while wading in chest deep water. Would probably be better if it had one more fold but... Our solutiion was to enclose the contents in a couple zip lock bags, then put in the "waterproof" bag. Can't say that I wouldn't recommend because I don't know your expectations or how you intend to use. I wouldn't buy again.

Can you read through the frosted plastic we’ll?

Why would you put a hole for the string below the closure?? this hole lets water in!!! manufacturer- please explain!
