definitely weighs more than 1lb.. possibly the unit without the griddle or a tank of fuel connected weighs that.. I actually returned mine and bought the next unit upgrade to a 3 burner bc I couldn't control the heat with this one very well.. I was constantly having to shut it off to cool down then having to re-light it was a pita.. the griddle itself weighed like 7lbs

you'll have to get an adapter.. it comes with grill tank hose

Yes it comes off. Depends on how long you are going to cook on high. I found medium a goid heat. It does seem to hv a hot spot but I love mine and use for camping. I hv cooked eggs, pancakes and bacon all at the same.
