Overbuilt, super tough, road and flight tested
Excellent design. Really Love this case. The double set of wheels gives me great confidence, as that is THE point of weakness we have had in two previous cases (not skb). Have had great luck with Pelican so decided to give SKBa try as an alternative since many musicians trust them. We are a media company and use this case to carry our video equipment when flying. With SIX latches, I never really worry about it accidentally opening (our last case only had Two!) I love the robust handles, though I wish the top handle could somehow be a little longer. When fully loaded it's 85lbs and gets hard to pull through the airport for a shorter person(I'm 5'5") I suppose that's difficult to design for though. Overall Excellent case I'm sure we will have for years, rather than months.

Quality Case
Quality product! I'm using this to be able to transport two handguns (SIG Sauer P229 and P938). Both fit along with their magazines and ammo. The levels of perforated foam and ease of removing small blocks of foam from the levels allows one to customize the case for your specific equipment. I wish the manufacturers of these boxes would provide the diameter of the holes that locks go through and make them so 1/4" diameter shackles would work. That would allow using a more secure lock. What I did was purchase two ABUS Ecolution 72 Anodized Aluminum series locks (Model 72HB/40-40) that have a shackle diameter of 15/64. These work perfectly to lock the box. I haven't field tested the box but have little doubt it will will up to my expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another case made by this company.

Brand name at a great price
Price was at a great point . SKB is a quality name brand and usually pricing is over inflated. Weakest point of transaction was being delivered by UPS . Had to chase driver down to get my product.

Great bag for digital mixers
I use this to carry a Mackie DL1608 mixer. There is plenty of room for the mixer and some related accessories, while the front pocket is perfectly sized for an iPad in a case. The case's padding is decent, and the shoulder strap is comfortable. This is great case for the guy who carries his own gear and will be careful with it. I don't worry about anything getting damaged in this bag, but I wouldn't give it to an airport luggage handler with my $1000 mixer and $600 iPad in it...

Folding Knife Storage
First, the internal height of this box is not 6" as advertised. It is 6.5" as described on SKB's website (the lid measures 1.5" and the base 5"). The box is perfect for storing my folding knives like the Spyderco Military with a 5.5" handle. I can store 32 knives while maintaining 1" of foam in between each knife. The cubed foam is attached very securely, and may take some time plucking. The base of the box contains 3 layers of 1.5" cubed foam, and a 0.5" foam pad on the bottom. The trigger latches are secure, quiet, and very easy to use. The only thing I didn't expect, the eggshell foam is glued to the lid, which I was planning on storing a wipe cloth behind. Instead, I placed it over the knives before closing the lid.

Flimsy zipper fobs break easily! Shame on SKB!
Returned it due to flimsy zipper pulls that easily break off in your hand when you just normally pull them to open/close the main compartment. I ended buying one made by "World Tour" for ten dollars cheaper! Better made! I'm disappointed in SKB! They usually put out quality stuff. Not this though!

SKB is the best
SKB cases are simply the best. They are also very expensive. Not long ago you couldn’t find a case a good. Now, you can for about 1/4 price but you better hold it to know.

... the Plano Gun Guard 108360 cases and have been happy with both
I own the Pelican 1720 and the Plano Gun Guard 108360 cases and have been happy with both. The Pelican case quality is great but of course the price is a bit high. The Gun Guard case quality isn’t that bad either and the price is even better. I thought I would try out the SKB 3I-3614 to compare the quality and the price is cheaper than the Pelican. Well the two SKB cases I purchased both do not fully seal on the ends which would allow water to get into the case. This is not a problem on the pelican case and the Plano case has latches on both ends preventing this issue. I also contacted SKB after purchasing the cases and inquired about replacement foam and the sales person informed me that they don’t normally stock replacement foam. This is not an issue with the Pelican or Plano cases. If I was going to make another purchase it would be either the Pelican or the Plano cases depending on how much I wanted to spend. I will say the SKB case is a bit more rugged than the Plano case so if you’re not worried about water, replacement foam, or money it is a better case.
