For the totally closed nuts use " Channellock 424 4.5-Inch Straight Jaw Tongue and Groove Pliers | Pocket Size Plier " if you have elderly teeth like mine and can no longer just bit them.

The tool is designed to allow you to separate the 2 parts of electronic devices to allow you to gain access. Go to the IFIXIT website and search for your model kindle to see the process to opening the device properly. They are indispensable with the information on their website for various electronic devices and how to complete repairs and estimating how skilled you should be to have the best chance of success. It's why I try to buy their products (because they are designed specifically for these tasks.)
