What is the difference between the deluxe kit and ultimate kit, other than cost?

Both the Deluxe and Ultimate models are exactly the same other than the Ultimate includes 4 additional parts, which can be purchased as an upgrade kit separately if you buy the Deluxe model. These 4 additional parts are a mini ball valve, a Quick Release M Plug, a Quick Release connector, and a 1/4" NPT barbed fitting. This creates the Quick Connect Water Fill System that attaches to an inexpensive 2 gallon tank sprayer, which you would need to buy from a local hardware store. Our water fill system fuels a rocket very quickly yielding about 30 launches with a 2 gallon tank and makes transporting water to the field easy without having to drag additional jugs or bottles of water along. So i see this uses Gardena style nozzles. I know that standard Gardena nozzles do not fit bottles, so where can i get addtional nozzles??

There a few shops online that sells them, you can also 3D print them

Do I really need the 2gl tank sprayer to properly operate this launcher?

No you do not. If you are doing many sequential launches, it does make it easier/quicker to hook up a tank sprayer to the launcher to fill the rocket. If you are using a tank sprayer, you just lock the empty rocket onto the launcher, turn the ball valve on the launcher to open the water inlet that the sprayer is quick-connected to, and close it when the desired amount of water has flowed into the rocket. If you don't have the sprayer, you just have to fill the rocket each time using the funnel before you place it on the launcher.

Can I use a higher tank spray?

Not sure what you mean by a higher tank spray, unless you mean a higher than 2 gal. capacity, which is what we typically recommend. If that is the case, than yes you can use a higher volume tank or a taller tank or even a higher pressure tank sprayer. The restrictions are not on the tank sprayer, but on the amount of water that fills the rocket, which should be limited to about 1 cup of water. A 2 gal. tank sprayer will yield about 30 launches. The other restriction would be the max PSI for pressurizing the rocket, which is 120 PSI and the safety valve will release at 125 PSI. Great fun with the kids, make sure you use air compressor fittings. I have plans for better rockets, see how high we can go.

This launcher is super fun. It is very well made with metal components and boy can you get those water bottle rockets launched high! I definitely recommend purchasing additional bottle launch caps from the company as you may lose a bottle or two but this thing is amazing. The hardest part is the workout pumping the pressure into the system. At around 100psi you might never see your rocket again but boy is it worth every penny!

It's pretty good, leaked despite having sealant on the threads. Just use the supplied thread tape on everything and it will be fine. The fin adaptor leaks no matter what. It's okay under 50 psi, but anything over loses pressure rapidly. Overall this is a good kit that can be adapted. Be aware that the fins are fragile... looks like by design with sharp edges and strategic hollow channels in the right places for stress risers. I added a 45 degree adaptor for the pressure gauge. It will foul against the Schrader valve and not turn if it goes in straight as designed (see pic). Be aware that is is available elsewhere (deluxe kit) for less than half the price that I paid. Needs to come with another bottle adaptor... lose one bottle and you are finished.

Seems well built and sturdy. Lots of fun to launch! The only downside is the tight spacing between the screw-in fittings on the main body. It’s a bit difficult to get the inline water shutoff valve aligned so it doesn’t interfere with the pressure relief valve. My school bought 10 of these and several of them were pretty tricky to get aligned no matter how much Teflon tape we used to limit the screw-in travel. Otherwise, a nice product!
