Quiet, efficient
My last AC unit was much louder than this one. Hoping that this one will last much longer than my last one (keystone) 06/14/25. Easy to install with another person, fairly simple instructions, and works with the temperature control. Quickly (3-5hrs) cooled my 700 sq ft apartment from 78°F to 72°F.For the negative reviews:Through the wall AC unit will create noise. This one is quieter than my last keystone one and the one before that ( brand I don't recall)It does require a ±240V outlet with two prongs that are in line with each other, along with a ground. The prongs flats are towards the ground in a straight line. For the negative reviews:All AC units, especially through the wall and maybe window units create noise. This one, in my experience, is quieter. It does require an appliance 240V outlet. This unit does not provide heat only good cold air conditioning

Design Flaw - Overheats
I had the same experience as Matt Punk. Sadly, I bought the unit over Memorial Day and didn't use it for weeks because it wasn't warm enough so I didn't notice the design flaw until it got into the 90's with high humidity. Now my return window has expired. It overheats and shuts down with the error code CH34. LG's website suggests that the error code relates to the coils being dirty or the unit needs shade from the sun. Well, the coils are not dirty because it is brand new and the sun doesn't hit that side of the building. Plus we only run it at night because it's in our bedroom. I called LG customer service and they tried to tell me the same thing. She finally agreed to send someone out to look at the unit and the repairman arrived yesterday. He told me that he sees tons of CH34 error codes on units that are in a sleeve and proceeded to tell me that the sleeve is the problem (it is old). However, when he pulled out the unit he admitted that the louvers for the heat to escape are substantial enough and that it really shouldn't be overheating. He actually told me that if I had purchased a Frigidaire or Friedrich, we most likely would not have this problem. I think that the fan in the unit that blows the hot air out does not blow hard enough for the air to leave the sleeve so it just stays inside resulting in the overheating. Not a defect, said the repairman, so we are stuck. The design of this air conditioner is flawed. He also told me that LG is aware of the problem, but doesn't want to go through the hassle and expense of a recall. You will regret spending your money on this. I sure do.Incidentally, we have a Frigidaire in the living space and it has the same sleeve conditions as in our bedroom. No problems whatsoever.

Great build and powerful for its size
This was a perfect fit in my ‘through the wall’ setup. It’s relatively quiet & very effective in cooling my whole apartment. It was easy to install, set up with the remote, and seal any air gaps.

A reasonable wall A/C
Unlike some of the other reviews, my unit arrived via UPS in fine shape. The packaging was robust and in tact. It was dropped off two days late by a pair of UPS employees who informed me “It’s heavy.” They were correct. I scooted it inside and enlisted friends to help me get it upstairs and into the wall to replace en existing, super noisy unit. The awful instructions will not accommodate all wall sleeves. Ours are 31 years old and are much taller than any of the newer styles. The instructions do not outline WHY you should place a small piece of foam here or there, instead opting for tiny diagrams and poor English. Explaining a little bit of the why is very helpful to those of use who are mechanically inclined. Only after getting all the foam in place inside the sleeve did I realize the new LG is 4”+ shorter than the wall sleeve. What a pain.It looks like they designed the buttons to be used while looking down at them. Our unit is mounted high on the wall and you must hold the remote up as high as you can and angle it downward to get it to work. The bottom of the temperature setting readout is obscured because it’s angled upward.Overall it is a quiet unit. The interior fan is loud on speed 3, but that’s expected. The compressor makes a thud when it turns on or off but is otherwise quiet in operation. The front grate rattles intermittently because it’s a poor design and cheap plastic. The clean filter light illuminates every 2ish weeks because it counts 250 hours of unit on time, not running time. The coarse dust filter hasn’t been dirty yet. In energy saver mode it may not run the compressor for hours if the room temperature is acceptable. The fan comes on briefly every 3 minutes to check if the room needs more cooling while in energy saver mode. This is nice because it’s not wasting electricity but also annoying because it’s always there as a reminder of how long you’ve been lying there at night trying to fall asleep.Temperature control is fine. Setting it to energy saver and 69°F renders a high of 74°F and a low of 72°F. This very acceptable since I don’t want it cooler than 72° anyway. The unit pumps out cold, cold air and the fan moves plenty of that cold air.Overall it works well and is relatively quiet. It had given us no problems for the whole summer. It needs better instructions, a tiltable control surface and higher quality exterior components to garner that fifth star.

Does the job
Very easy to install. Nice and quiet. Removes the humidity and keeps our large bedroom cool. Easy functionality, too. I did need help with a friend to lift it into the wall assembly as it weighs a good bit.

LG was a good decision.
It's a little noisy, but honestly great and it still works 6 years later. I bought a Frigidaire at the same time, and I just found out that one has grown moldy inside because it had a styrooam inside that was just asking to grow mold. The LG has a plastic interior, and honestly looks pristine compared to it's counter-part. I'm very happy to see that LG made better design decisions and a quality product.
