Top filter fit but bottom filter didn't

A Great upgrade for my 1997 Lexus ES300. It is a great product and fit perfectly.The installation might not be for a beginner. It is in a difficult to reach spot and is a little tricky to install. There are youtube videos on how to do it. I used them and had it in within 20 minutes.

Because I drive my car daily and have gotten used to the 'old car smell' it has I couldn't smell a difference, but apparently my mates could. Seems like it really does take odours out of the air, at least to a certain extent - that old car smell is still there but apparently not as strong. I've only had it installed for a few days however.3rd and 4th gen camrys don't come with a filter by default, but because they use the same AC unit as the ES300, this can fit right in, since apparently the US model 92-93 year camrys had a filter cover and slot just sitting there, ready for a filter. Later years you had to cut out a slot for the cabin filter and the guide rails for the filter itself will be right there. However, if you have a right hand drive camry you will need to make some modifications:Both filter pieces were intended for LHD vehicles, while the bottom piece can simply be reversed, The upper filter has a tab on the left side as it was designed to be inserted via the driver side footwell on a LHD vehicle. As such, this tab will need to be snapped off, and if you don't file down the remains of the tab in the grooves on the side, it will require a fair amount of force to insert and remove both filter pieces (ask me how I know this). When it comes time to replace the filter, you can hook your finger or an object onto the base of the top filter to pull it down as it has an L profile when looking at it side-on. The bottom filter can be installed with the tab on the right side with the only issue being that it may poke into the foam of the slot cover, but that's about it.I think RHD ES300s that had the filter slot already there may have had this change already accommodated so the upper filter could essentially be installed in reverse, but I haven't been able to confirm this. This is also questionable as the part number 8888-033060, which is a Japan-built OEM cabin filter, has the tabs on the right side of the filter assemblies and as such will fit right in to RHD vehicles as Japan drives on the left side of the road.

Let's get this out of the way first: item took 4-1/2 MONTHS to arrive! But it got here. And it is perfect. This is a tricky pair of filters -- they must fit precisely into each other and into the slot. And they do! I am very happy. Here's a hint for anyone doing this task: go to YouTube and view Hayk Samvelyan's how-to video. Hugely helpful.
