I ended up in the hospital with arsenic poisoning after taking Code Age Multi Collagen for five months. The Organic Consumer Association tested the top collagen powders and all but three contained arsenic, lead and/or mercury. BioOptimal Collagen Powder was one of only three products to test clean. Even though it only contains two collagens instead of five, Bio Optimal seems to be giving me the same great results as the Code Age, without putting me in the hospital! It tastes a lot better, too, without the fish collagen. It's not quite tasteless but the slight taste is not unpleasant at all. It also mixes very well in liquid. As to effects, I am getting the same ones I got with Code Age, tightening skin, wrinkles reducing and elimination of joint pain, which I mostly was starting to feel in my neck and back. Those little twinges are completely gone now. The price of BioOptimal is competitive, I just hope they keep up the excellent quality and cleanliness.

I have never taken collagen supplements before so I don't have anything to compare it to, however, I think I hit the jackpot on the first try. There is very little if any flavor so I use it in my morning apple cider vinegar drink or my herbal tea and it doesn't change the taste at all. That's a real plus since I have very finicky taste buds and struggle to drink things that taste 'off'. My nails have always been strong but I was shedding a lot of hair and I've noticed in the month that I've been taking the collagen diligently, that the shedding has become more normal and my nails are even better than they were before; stronger and smoother. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the reason I started taking this supplement at all was because of my knee. I had made an appointment to see the orthopedic surgeon to check my knee out before I left on an international vacation. Well, it's a 2 month wait to see him so I ordered the collagen supplement and started taking it a few days later. Ha! My knee feels great and I wonder if I should cancel the appointment. My knee was NOT terrible so don't think it will cure a really bad joint but it did ache when I rode my bike or sat without stretching it out for long. My point is that it most likely will help your joints but don't count on a cure. I will stick with this product for as long as I can.

I purchased this brand after the one I was using prior was being sporadically stocked on Amazon. I wanted to hate it because it was a few bucks more but it is an far better than the one I had been using. I've been on collagen for two years, taking it to assist with arthritis pain I have from an accident. Prior to starting collagen I could not sleep through a night without waking in nauseating pain in my back and hip. Along with allowing me to sleep soundly through the night my skin, hair and nails are excellent. Since switching to this brand, I have tons of new baby hairs coming in around my scalp in the first month and my hair is growing much faster. I have not had an arthritis flare even with snowstorms coming through my area which I normally dread. I mix it in with my coffee every morning. I have zero issues with it dissolving or tasting it. If your suffering from arthritis I couldn't recommend adding collagen to diet more highly. Give it a couple of months to start fully working and stick to it. For the cost and to be able to rest peacefully through the night and not pop pain pills like candy it's worth it's weight in gold to me. Good luck.

This is one of the better collagen powders but they've been raising their price over the past two years. It started out one of the lower priced powders and even though they are one of the more popular, they choose to charge more than less. This bodes ill for them since this market is quite competitive giving buyers many choices for less money in these trying times. After many years, I will be one to look elsewhere with fpur members of my family and 8 more in my expanded family.
