Could anyone comment on the sound quality of the speaker on the DT-400W versus the DT-210?

I have both radios and like them both. I do think the DT 210 sounds a bit better, though shortly after I first bought it, I had to re-glue the speaker magnet. No biggie. The DT 210 was my first Sangean and now I have 5. I'm a fan.

where do I buy another fm trailing antenna

If you make one of your own from an old set of ear buds, make sure the wire is 36 inches or longer. Your FM reception towards the top end of the band will suffer it it's shorter than that. I used a speaker extension wire (male plugs on each end) of 24 inches and noticed the reception of a station at 106.1 noticeably weaker. Changing back to a 36 inch wire fixed it.

i listen to am/talk radio---how does this work for my purposes

I found this to be the best "Pocket Radio" on the market and I ONLY listedn to talk AM, NPR/PRN/RIP FM talk & entertainment. Either on speaker or ear buds, this Sangean DT-400 Digital is that BEST that I could find that gave me everything I wanted in listening to "Talk Radio"!!

Does this get good reception from distant radio stations? I camp in the Rockies and have a hard time pulling in radio stations at night. Thanks!!

the Sangean DT400-W has very good reception in both AM and FM bands and Noaa. When I go camping or backpacking way Out in mountainous terrain, I take a 30 foot Clip on wire antenna the wire antenna comes on a handy reel, for easy extension and rolling up. Antenna length is a function of tuning the antenna mathematically to the desired wavelength (frequency) one wants to monitor. Meaning that a long antenna such as this is mostly for enhancing reception of all transmissions hitting the antenna. Misunderstanding the results of these long antennas is what is causing people to say 'It doesn't help much." They do not understand that bringing in more transmissions also brings in excessive 'clutter', aka noise; and if there just isn't more to receive, they ain't gonna get it either; so they say the reception is not enhanced. Amateur operators use wire antennas 60' (very short) to hundreds of feet. Meaning long antennas are good. So, this will also pull in distant commercial AM & FM stations - if they are there. It all boils down to what is available to receive with current atmospheric conditions. In other words, it will depend on where you are in relation to the transmitters. Might, or might not help, due to that. this is a nice, compact variable length antenna, or make your own antenna out of speaker wire, etc

As Sourav said in the review, he is correct. It's not cheap chinese product. The reception is excellent and sound quality is awesome. I checked with FM, AM as well both works absolutely fantastic. WX is not useful in India. It's very small in size and compact. I recommend this product for those who like to listen radio, don't buy any other brand. Just go for it !!! Before buying, I searched a lot in google and in youtube which one to buy. Finally I found this is the perfect pocket size radio and no tension of antenna one of the major plus point of this radio. Initially, i felt it's expensive but once i had it in my hand. I felt it's long lasting quality in it. Lock button, LCD display (Good quality and durable), Speaker, Clock, Removable Belt Clip (very sturdy), 19 Random Presets, 90 minutes auto shutoff, Digital AM/FM tunner really helps to lock perfect radio stations. The biggest advantage i feel is it's not having an telescopic antenna which usually comes with all other radios. A headphone jack works as an antenna, is awesome!!! Now, I will tell you the dimensions of this Sangean-DT400W Radio: 2.5 inches width, 4.25 inches in height and thickness 1 inch. Including battery the weight is around 155 grams. Programming is dam easy in it. Once we set it as My favorites, no need to tune it again and again. So far I have used panasonic, sony and philips radio's but the quality of sound and reception in SANGEAN DT-400W is not comparable to any other brands. A very high build quality is fantastic in my opinion.

Recommend this one. AM reception is excellent as is the FM. I mainly listen with headphones and the sound quality is very good. Weather channel is handy and does work. The in built speaker is handy. Of course this is a tiny speaker. Running talk radio on AM it’s certainly usable. With FM station that have better sound quality the speaker works but your not getting the full quality of the audio from the station. But again perfectly serviceable Like the yellow colour you certainly can’t miss place it. Battery life is amazing and nice it’s just AA cells easy to get anywhere. Having a clock permanently showing when not listing to the radio is brilliant. Highly recommended radio. Little pricey but worth it.

This is a worthless piece of junk in Australia . You can only program AM stations in units of 10. So eg you cant program 612 only 610. Hence reception is poor
