Tastes like home
Tastes exactly the same as the Middle eastern Freekeh

slightly smoky, pleasant texture
cook some of this freekeh in water with butter and a spoonful of bullion. then sauté some shredded brussels sprouts til they’re a little caramelized in some spots, add some garlic and cooked freekeh, fry that around til it’s dried out a bit, maybe a little browned and toasty too, then add some riced cauliflower and a handful or two of busted up cashews, fry it all together til those nuts start to get nice and toasty in some spots, and yum, yer eatin vegetables

So tasty!
Oddly enough…. The dogs acted as if this was cat nip when I opened it. It had a very herbal and not entirely appetizing aroma while cooking in the rice cooker. However, it is such a delicious nutty, herbal, umami grain. I’m obsessed and have eaten most of it myself. I think I have been ruined by Freekeh!!

First Time Trying
Taste: This has a strong peppery like taste that makes it taste awful, I followed the directions to a T and it was still gross in my opinion so I will NEVER buy this again.

Yummie!
I was introduced to this grain by a friend of mine from Syria. It is similar to farro, if you’ve ever cooked or eaten that. Of course, my friend made it better than I, but I just followed the directions on the box and she had a lifetime of cooking with it (she cooked it with meat that just fell apart)! I will keep trying recipes and keep cooking this healthy, ancient grain!
