Table Talk: A Book about Table Manners (Building Relationships)

Good
In this book the table is talking to kids about table manners. The illustrations are a diverse group of children. Manners covered include washing before eating, no tech devices at the table, sit up, wait until everyone has their food, use utensils, don’t speak with food in your mouth, don’t burp, smack, or pass gas, eat slowly, use a napkin, don’t reach across, and it mentions that it’s rude to say the food looks bad and if you take a bite and do not like something how to discreetly spit it out. Some pages rhyme and have a rhythm and some do not. Overall, a very good introduction into table manners.

A wonderful book to discuss table manners
A really surprising thoughtful story. My students loved it and made lots of text to self connections. Since I see them at lunch we often reference back to it. The book covers everything from not playing with your food, chewing with your mouth closed, elbows on the table, hand washing, etc. They enjoyed it and learned a great deal from it.Mind you that these are "western" manners. Many cultures do eat with their hands, burping is considered a compliment, etc. Still a great resource though, especially about cleanliness.

Good for teaching kids table manners
I really liked this book for helping teach my kids table manners. Some of the “rules” isn’t he book can be left up to preference, but it’s a really good starting point for discussions on table manners. Somehow, hearing it from a book made a bigger impact on our kids than mom & dad nagging and reminding 😉

Great book about table manners!
We have read this book several times! It's a great book to open the discussion about table manners. Sometimes, when table manners aren't that great, my daughter will say, "It looks like we need to read the table manners book again!"

Awkward book
This is hard... The children like the book just fine, but I cannot stand reading it. The cadence is off on a few pages (rhymes that don't sound good rhythmically are annoying to me) and the pictures are all in the style of the cover illustration (which I don't really care for). If books sounding and looking pleasant is a priority for you, I'd recommend Joy Berry books or maybe just writing up a list of table manners for your home. :P

Good book for all children
Love this book. My son is 14 with Autism its hard to explain table manners. I love when he reads this book it explains it better with pictures (My son is more visual) he laughs at certain points like cover your mouth when its full. I love that he gets it. Good book for children whether they have special need or not. Thanks

Love this book!
I love this book. Love, love, love it! I'm a nanny for 4 boys who act like they were raised by wolves, and this book lives on our dining table and is read often. There have definitely been improvements in their table manners since we started reading it together!

Teaches kids table manners
Though it's something we practice daily, this book has really helped my kids with their table manners. It's really engaging and they just love to read this book over and over!

Totally recommended
We have been teaching our 5 year old table manners for quite sometimes - most of the time it works good and rest are not. But with this book, he knows that Table manners not only for adults, all children should play along too and this is a fun way to learn. We are surprised every time how polite he could be during eating time. A Good Purchase!
