Good for beginners
This is my second machete, and I’m satisfied with the weight and the sharpness; I did the paper test and it was good. The sheath is a little too tight for it but loosened up after a few weeks. A little concerned about how the base of the blade connects to the handle, there was a small gap. Hope it holds up after some serious use.

Beyond blunt and poorly fitted guard
I'm not sure what I was expecting at this price, but a couple of issues glared out. It seems like this came either used and abused or had poor QC. First of all, the entire belly part of the blade is not dull- it is completely flat. The widest of the dull parts is .042"/1.07mm wide and I would consider the knife to have a 90 degree edge for about 3.75" of the blade. But a blade can be sharpened. The real shame is that I heard something rattling when I was taking the knife out of the packaging. The brass guard is very poorly fitted between the handle and the blade. If I rest my finger on the front of the guard, a gap of .017"/.42mm opens on the back between the wood and the guard, and it wiggles significantly from side-to-side as well.I got it mostly out of curiosity to play with this knife that is kind of a cross between a Bowie knife and a traditional kukri (compared to traditional kukri, the blade has less curve and the handle is completely different). I can't be too upset since it wasn't a gift for anyone and I'm not depending on it.

The rust over rides the hood points.

Buy carefully
After unboxing the blade I noticed that it was a bit warped and along the blades edge there was a few chips that were on the blades edge. Otherwise it’s a beautiful piece but would I use it for its intended purpose I’m going to say no just because I don’t trust the heat treat of the blade but we’ll see how it goes once I sharpen the blade.

Blade is High Quality!
This blade is very high quality & is pretty heavy. Only downside is the blade doesn't come very sharp, & on my knife at least, you are able to see the glue near the handle. Solid knife!
