I am a magnet for stinging sea creatures. For years I didn't even know there was a thing such as sea lice and didn't know why I would experience a painful stinging sensation when I was swimming in the ocean. I don't know how I stumbled across this stuff, I think I Googled asking what would cause that stinging sensation and that's how I found out about sea lice and that there were products to prevent it. I read the reviews on several types of this product but settled on this one because it seemed to be the best one on the market. I'm glad I did! It's a little pricey (I think right now it is running about $16 for a rather small bottle) but it is very effective. I would say one bottle lasts for one person to use liberally while on a beach-long vacation, to give you some idea of how far this bottle goes. So if you have several people who will need to use it you will a bigger bottle or more than one. This is really something you need in your beach bag. Oh, and another plus, it has sunscreen.

This stuff is amazing. Not only does it work as advertised (creates a protective film that nematocysts have difficulty penetrating) but it's pretty darn good sunscreen. I've been snorkeling and diving in Bonaire for a week - the first day I went snorkeling, multiple tiny stings on my arms and legs, and then I noticed small clear jellies on the surface. I put the Safe Sea lotion on and went back in - never got another sting. The next day, I wore a rashguard so I thought I'd be safe. Somehow something got into the rashguard and stung my chest. Again I got out, applied the lotion, and voila - not another problem. I don't know what kind of jellies these were - they were not terribly painful with their sting, not like man o'war or box jellies are, so I assume they were either larval or similar, but this lotion made our vacation much more comfortable. Used it on our face without sensitivity issues.
