Essential book for kids
Manners is most important to me over all other things. And this book is great to remind parents how many manners there actually are, and provides a nice, easy, and fun way to teach the kids all about what manners are. Buy it for the household or as a present for your nieces and nephews. You won't regret it.

Must have!
This fun text gives a modern spin to 'manners', and how it can be explained to children. I got it to refine my own skills in preparation to support my two years old niece's development. The narrative is fun and not dry as you would expect from a manners guide. Significantly, it teases out the importance of manners by capitalising on important aspects such as being a good person, what you give is what you get etc.

Good manners and “well-behaved” kids IMPRESS adults?!? Wait what?
Some of the messages in the book did not align with what I want teach my kid hence i returned it. It says at the beginning in the very first chapter that kids with good manners impress adults and when adults are impressed with the “well-behaved” kids, they would get later bedtimes, larger allowances, be more liked and so on so forth. As much as we want our kid to know and have good manners, i don’t think this is the way to teach them. It goes against conscious parenting and their worth/value should not be dependent on whether they said hello or thank you. If anything these kind of messages teach you that good manners pleases other people and do we really want our kids to become people pleasers?!I understand the importance of good manners and we should teach our kids manners only because manners are important and we should all play our part to make this world more loving and peaceful. DEFINITELY NOT to please/impress adults or to get later bedtimes etc. Conclusion: I won’t recommend this book.
