I think this would be a great book for any man who is dealing with prostate issues, and in particular with the prospect or recent diagnosis of prostate cancer. Read this before you make any decisions about further treatment… It covers all the options and is super helpful, Written from the perspective of both a physician and a patient, giving you all angles that you may not get just from your doctor’s approach. Not to slight your doctor or your team, but often they have a biased approach according to which kind of direction they prefer to go, and are most adept in. Be your own best advocate, and then make your decisions!

Good info for men to know before they start getting biopsies from just an elevated PSA Test. Lots of things can temporarily increase PSA, and there are lots of things that can lower it - check out Michael Gregor's site on various plants & seeds that lower PSA before you go through that very invasive biopsy procedure!

A great guide for those experiencing Prostate Cancer as a patient or family member.

It is frightening to get a cancer diagnosis, many men though have a low grade non threatening cancer. Overtreatment can cause a lifetime of significant difficulties ( Impotence / incontinence ). This book is a great starting point for research, Gleason 6 at one time caused patients to pursue prostatectomies. Now there are focal treatments, very much improved radiation, and best of all AS. When appropriate in cases like mine ( Active Surveillance ) observation and testing is all that is required. This is an area that requires lots of education and dialogue with the doctors. Best investment in my health I ever made, do your homework!

This book is especially important in that it covers the procedures you may be offered that should be avoided, given that some diagnostic procedures and treatments carry very high risks and are virtually useless to boot.
