Q: I put a 4000 gpd pump in my skimmer but the pump compartment runs dry. What am I doing wrong?

Hello Gregory, Thanks for asking! This may be from a few variables, Therefore it may be tough to answer without some more input. It could be that the water level is not up to the line on the skimmer faceplate which is not allowing enough water to flow in through the face of the system. Has the skimmer has been also checked for any blockages? The Standard Skimmer with the 8.5" weir should accept a flowrate of 1800-5000gph. I hope this is helpful! You should have a choice of a 6" or an 8.5" faceplate.
