Replaceble inexpensive batteries !!! TOUGH Case.
This is the single best Android phone on the market to carry around the world, Especially for the price. My second phone was $249 new in the box. It has swappable Batteries !!! No more dead phone in Barcelona. You can get them unlocked - will take any other phone company's chips, ATT, Sprint/T-mobile, Verizon, and a host of different services in India and Europe.Note ALL verizon service phones come unlocked, new from the factory.EXAMPLE: We got a "unit one" phone chip in Sri Lanka, that turns the phone into a local one with a local phone number, with unlimited calls and unlimited text for $6 and $12 a month (U.S. dollars) you can get them at the airport. Took 10 seconds to insert chip in extra slot, and one minute to call in to activate the service.Since ONLY the U.S.A. charges for incoming text, the rest of the world does not, we used it to receive text from US mainland - for free (and with the unlimited text locally). The Xcover can take TWO sim chips for two different telephone numbers or chips for two different countries, or two different phone services. It is easy to switch back and for on the phone itself, Samsung is made for this. And it Still has a 3rd slot for a memory chip as well. Slots are next to the removable battery inside the case, cannot easily be lost, stolen or damaged by water or dirt as Apples and other models that keep the memory card on the outside slot in the cases.Extremely tough case, and uses the famous Gorilla Glass. God I love that glass. Have never used a glass protector. Does not need another tough case around it, the slightly raised edge bezel protects the screen on the sides as well, this also help strengthen the case and glass against bend if you forgot it in your back pocket when sitting.I have purposely dropped this on concrete from 3 feet up, on the corner, back and front, with ZERO damage. I have dropped it in my toilet, and flushed it (not down the drain of course) and dropped it into the shallow kiddie sections of a swimming pool. Even with a seal on the back for removing the backplate for extra batter swaps, the seal works perfectly, NO Water damage. It has TWO external programmable side/top buttons, as well as the power button and volume rocker. Loud speaker phone, but not as scratch and annoying as those terrible Apple phones.I use one button for the flash light instant on, and one for screen captures.I also connect my phone to my television and use an external mouse and keyboar with it. Very simple to do. An HDMI-USBc dongle will transfer the sound to the TV as well, and still use the phone microphone. This model still has the old fashioned round jack on the side for headphones !!!! Apple finally had to put their back on again. and of course bluetooth for mouse and earbuds. The camera front and rear is excellent, no issues filming and photo'ing the Kilauea Volcano lava flow day or night, last week on Big Island Hawaii. Can zoom and rotate in video mode as well. Flash is BRIGHT.Dont' buy any phone for more that $500, period. Especially if it does not have swappable batteries. The Xcover back can pop off easily for removal and replacement of battery. No tools, just use your thumbnail on the indent. Ridiculously easy to do and very well thought out. The Phone does not lose any information or settings when this is done and does not have to be plugged in while doing it and does not need the cloud or forced back up before doing. The NEAR FIELD Comm service (just tap phones for credit cards, or to each other etc.) is a SERIOUS security risk. Especially over seas.So the Galaxy Xcover put the antenna for it, ON THE BATTERY. This means you can use a battery that does not have it, or use it with one that does. You can still turn the service of, more or less inside the phone software settings.I NEVER have a phone down for charging any where in the world. I just switch batteries, you can get them for $20. Takes 20 seconds to swap the battery.YOU DO NOT HAVE to get a new phone when the battery dies, like Apples and others.

Good phone, terrible seller and listing
Ordered unlocked model (SM-G715U1) twice received 2 Verizon models (SM-G715U), one still carrier locked to Verizon. Replacement for carrier locked device is the same model and while not locked to Verizon, it does not support at&t network (GSM) as listed in product details.Arrived in very poor packaging with only phone and battery, worse the second time. Other items listed in description as being included were not.

why buy cheap new phone?
arrived in couple of days. i had seen this phone years ago, but way beyond my budget. I use phone mostly to check stuff online, text, and talk. what appealed to me was rugged construction, AND replaceable battery. Very happy with phone. Started as soon as i opened box, but battery low. Put on charger. Got phone service arranged. Brilliant. Very happy. Great phone plus service under 150. Why Buy new cheap phone?

Shipped and arrived quickly but loaded with bloatware. Black level bright grey.
Unlike most Amazon Prime orders, this shipped and arrived quickly. Good vendor - 5 stars. Other stuff bought at the same time has yet to ship a week after this arrived.Bought for removable battery feature. The phone itself is very rugged and basic features as expected... Only disappointments are the phone's black level is bright grey so use as a bedside clock/alarm glows with very low contrast. And like most phones, this is full of bloatware and features that take hours to uninstall or deactivate. Thought a "business" phone would be no nonsense. Still poking to disable stuff. Needed MANY updates (hours - one at a time) and each optimized over 400 apps. Android clearly knows this highlights an issue . First updates showed N of X whereas the later ones just %

Good phone.
It's difficult to determine exactly what you are getting from this amazon listing with so many sellers. The model was SM-G715A (ATT firmware varient, network unlocked). It's working fine on Visible. I flashed it over to SM-G715U1 to get rid of the AT&T branding and CRapps, and remove the ATT restrictions on using both SIM slots, plus being able to unlock it later (bootloader/root). Apparently it takes 7 days of uptime to get the OEM Unlock menu to appear in Developer Options, under SM-G715U1 (and never appears in the intentionally disabled, a.k.a. broken AT&T firmware). The steps i've already taken, do not break Samsung's KNOX security; it's fully usable as an ordinary phone. However, when the bootloader is unlocked, later, that will cause permanent changes to KNOX, so be warned. These phones are not under warranty though, so I don't see any advantage to keeping KNOX.The phone was in excellent condition, ~$75, with a screen protector preinstalled. The battery does not appear to have any cycle fatigue, however, it is replaceable easily anyway. Seller was wirelesssource. Arrived promptly. A good case for it is about $9 on amazon renewed, $16 normally. Speed and performance is slightly faster than a Pixel 3/3a. It is a 2020 model (the Pixel its replacing is a 2019 model). I had charging limited on the Pixel 3a through Magisk root, to 80%, to preserve the cycle life of the non-replaceable battery. However, it eventually failed 4 yrs later. This samsung version of android (13), has a good 85% battery preserving option. Lots of accessibility options, too! You have to hunt and search through the menus to find them, but they are there (at least in the SM-715U1 firmware. I couldn't tell you about the garbage ATT firmware, I didn't keep it long enough to find out.).Android 13 is fully compatible with all my apps. Android 14 is not. I specifically wanted:A MILSPEC rating. Everything is rated only for a ladies' purse on a dry day.A removable battery.Full U.S. carrier support: no weird anticompetitive IMEI blocking from Verizon or ATT. TMobile does not engage in that. However, this is old enough there is no Band 71/600mhz Tmobile support. You'd probably need a newer model for that.A rootable phone: U.S. Carrier firmware locks-out the bootloader, 'by request', so between their obsessive control over your device and included bloatware, you never have control over your phone with it locked. This is different than network locking, and is typically not an advertised function. You sort of have to do your own research.Dual SIM. Very uncommon for U.S. Carrier 'approved' phones (IMEI blocking). This phone had it, but the ATT firmware disables it. Now it has both slots available.
