Lausihay 304 Stainless Steel Salt and Pepper Grinder Set (Set of 2)

These grinders are sold under a variety of brand names on Amazon. The distinction that this set has is it is the only one to claim 304 Stainless Steel. This set also sells for $10 less than the other brands, even though they are the identical item. So after checking out all the different brands, I decided on this set because it claims 304 stainless, and it comes with a free wine bottle stopper, and the tops screw off rather then separating in the center just above the clear plastic to fill like a few models (those models people complained about coming apart while using them and dumping all the spice on the dinner). It also uses the same ceramic burr mill (grinder) mechanism as the others so it won't rust from grinding salt.I like that the tops unscrew to a large mouth that is easy to fill. I like that they hold A LOT of spice. Its easy to see what spice is in grinder through the clear plastic window. They feel good when held and don't take much effort at all to twist/grind. I also like the method of changing the grind size. Twisting the bottom ring raises and lowers the outside of the ceramic conical burr mill, increasing or decreasing the gap between the inner and outer parts of the mill. This works well and is much more accurate than grinders with the adjustment knob on top.One was filled with coarse sea salt and one with black pepper corns. Both ground well. Salt on a finest setting creates a nice uniform powder and on the coarsest setting makes bits larger than typical table salt. Larger grind settings put out lots of salt with one twist! The pepper corns ground evenly on finer settings and are even finer than shaker pepper. On the more coarse settings, the grind is very coarse with large flakes of pepper corn but more uneven in that there is a mix of finer and coarse bits together.Regarding the 304 Stainless Steel.... The stainless is good quality, with a semi-satin sheen. Easy to clean, but does not leave fingerprints from handling. The top inch or so has a plastic threaded insert for the top to screw into. The top is plastic with a stainless covering and makes refilling super easy. The base is similar in that it is a plastic mechanism fit inside the stainless shell. The shape of the grinders and the finish of the stainless impart a classy and contemporary look.I noticed when changing from a coarse grind to a fine grind the adjustment ring would not always twist to the full finest setting. This is because some coarse ground pepper corn was sticking in the mill. By twisting the adjustment to full open while holding it upside down and tapping or blowing on it the stuck particles are freed and the adjustment can be twisted to full finest setting. Other grinders I have display the similar behavior.This is a wonderful grinder set. I am pleased that the overall quality of construction is better than expected. They are tall, making them stand out on a table, so its a real plus that they are so attractive.

The grinders work well for salt however, it does not work very well for peppercorns. It appear the peppercorns are too big to allow the grinding mechanism to "catch" them solidly. As a result the grinder feels loose and you have to grind a lot to get much pepper out. On the plus side it gives you a good forearm workout.

Beautiful pair of grinders!Waffled between 4 and 5 stars; would have earned a full 5 if the pepper grinder put out more pepper with each grind. Even with that, the size is large enough that you don't have to refill all the time and both operate very smoothly...so about as close to 5 stars as you can get!

Bought this in October it is now March and the size indicator has completely rubbed off. The grinders work fine I just can't tell which way make the salt and pepper bigger or smaller. That's kind of lame.

I love these. They are smooth and sleek and just beautiful. I bought them as a gift for my cousin's wedding and am more than happy with them. I love most of all the fact that you can open them and wash them out. They are glass on top and I think that makes them even more elegant. Two thumbs up on these

These are exactly what we were looking for. They hold a lot. The grind settings are handy and work great. No matter what you set the grind setting to, you don't have to do 40 twists to season 2 eggs (which was the problem with our old S/P grinders). Well worth the price.

Ordered the wrong thing, but they were heavy and nice.

Pretty decent set. Works fairly well although the adjustment doesn't seem to make much of a difference.
