15 year old finicky kitty loves it. She has gained a little weight, is more active and simply looks healthier.

While most cat caretakers know that grain-free food is better, most don't know that manufacturers replaced grains with peas. As obligate carnivores, cats should not eat peas any more than they should eat corn or wheat. But dry food needs something to bind the kibble together. And IMHO, manufacturers need cheap fillers to lower the price. So most of them have turned to peas, and list them in several different ways to make it less obvious that the food is mostly peas ("yellow peas," "green peas," "pea protein," "pea starch," "ground peas," "pea fiber," and "chickpeas," to name a few). It's VERY hard to find a dry cat food that isn't loaded up with species-inappropriate grains or legumes.This is one of the best dry foods I've found. It does contain chickpeas, but they are low on the list. All About Cats rates this food 9/10 for species appropriateness: "Unlike most kibble, Dr. Elsey’s dry food is made without any grains or other starchy ingredients and instead relies on gelatin as a binder," their review says.And all of my cats love this food! I mix the salmon and rabbit recipes together. If your cats strongly prefer dry food, like my cats, I highly recommend this food.

Good product, Awful packaging and / or shipping. I recommend you check the bottom corners of the bag. The are prone to punctures... or holes? Please look at photos to see what I'm referring to. I'm almost certain this happens during shipping. Either amazon needs to ship this in it's own separate box (not a bag) or Dr. Elsey needs to rethink their packaging. Calling Amazon for a refund. For all I know, this hole has been there for weeks, vulnerable to the environment and insects.

My cat unfortunately has diabetes. I tried to switch him to wet food but he would rather starve himself... I also tried many other dry foods that were recommended and of them all, Dr. Elseys was the winner and in my opinion the best. It has the least amount of carbohydrates which is perfect for my cat.

My cats both like it, their coats are shinier, and since I look at all the ingredients in kibble I’m willing to feed my cats, I think it’s one of the healthier foods on the market. It’s one of the higher quality foods for sure!

My cats have been on Dr. Elseys kibbles for several years. Now I’m unable to reorder the Chicken as it’s always out for f stock…got the Salmon which they’ll eat ok. The Salmon was out of stock so ordered the Rabbit which they wouldn’t eat. Sadly to say this once loyal customer is now looking for a different company that I can rely on to keep my cats fed. Tired of running out of their food while seeing Dr. Elseys food skyrocket in price.
