I have a real leather semi-circular desk mat from Ikea that I’ve had for many years. It’s a flat sheet of steel with the leather glued to it and a lip that wraps around the edge of the desk. My desk has a sharp edge so the wraparound lip has saved my arms from a lot of wear and tear. Over time the leather had become worn and pitted and newer laser mice are affected by the steel. But the sheer weight of it has guaranteed it has never once slid around.KEY FEATURESI wanted something similar but larger and rectangular so I can use the pad as a very large mousing surface. The wraparound edge lip was a must-have so that limited the style to this one, which seems to be sold by a half dozen different companies with about a ten dollar spread between them for the same thing. This one was at the high end but was the only one that promised to send it flat instead of rolled up, and it has the most reviews. I decided to pay the extra price (for what looks like the same thing) to assure it arrived flat - that was high on my importance list.CONDITIONThe flat pak helped, although there wasn’t a shred of material inside the box other than the deskpad it arrived perfectly flat.FIXING THE FIXABLEAs I feared, the lack of any weighty backing material, like the IKEA used, means the pad easily slides all over the desk at the slightest touch, which is annoying to say the least. Also, when I rest my forearms on the pad while typing they “stick” to the TPU enough that when I lift my arms the whole pad comes up with them. I came up with an easy solution to that which works like a charm. Simply take two of the small circular hook and loop dots like Vkey Sticky Back Coins Hook & Loop Self Adhesive Dots Tapes and attach them to the pad and it will never move again until you want it to. Important – there is a right way and a wrong way. The natural inclination is to attach the dots at the four corners. Unfortunately that creates raised bumps in the pad that look bad and can affect moving your mouse around. The better way is to cut one dot in half and stick the halves inside each end of the front lip so it stick to the edge of your desk, not the top. Now your pad will lay perfectly flat with no bumps and won’t budge no matter what.QUALITYBased on a few things I read I expected this pad to be paper thin but it’s not, it actually is a relatively thick pad that muffles the sound of my keyboard and mouse click (especially appreciated late at night). It lays absolutely flat and there are no imperfections at all. It is definitely worth what I paid. I had low expectations of it as a mousing surface until I tried it and discovered I like the feel of the way my mouse slides on it better than my very fancy special mouse pad, and of course the advantage is that now my entire desk pad is also a mouse pad.

The mat was delivered in a flat box and did not need to be rolled or folded. The mat does have a dime size lump in the middle, but my laptop covers it and does not effect the function of the mat. The lump almost looks like an air hole, but it isn't. You will need to use a flat double sided sticker on each corner in order to keep it from moving, but that is just due to the material of the mat and not the weight. The mat is just as thick and heavy as I feel a good mat should be. I purchased a desk mat from a different seller and had to return it due to how cheap and non functioning of a product it was. This is definitely the mat you want to purchase, don't waist your time and money on the others.

Good quality product. Looks good on my light colored desk and is thick enough to write on comfortably. Only issue the "catch" at the bottom of it. It does a good job of keeping the mat from sliding but it is constructed for a desk that has a straight edge. My desk has a curved edge so the "catch" doesn't function as well. Still, this is a product I recommend!

If I could rate these with more than 5 stars I would! We recently moved into a new office and the chairs have a metal back on them so when we spin, they hit into the desk and have started to chip at the wood. I was to the point where we were going to put a corner cover on the desk (like you would put on a coffee table to keep baby from getting hurt) but stumbled across these. They work perfectly! They arrived in a flat box so we didn't have to worry about them unrolling or being creased on the desk. They are a durable plastic and wipe off easily. We ended up getting one for everyone in the office - they are absolutely wonderful!

The product is not bad. However, it is a simple injection-molded plastic piece and has absolutely nothing to do with artificial leather. It has even a huge circular bump at the center of the piece indicating lower quality injection molding. There are multiple products half the cost or lower at Amazon of this product which are also injection-molded plastic, like this one. If you are thinking, you are getting higher quality material for more than double the cost, you will be very disappointed like me.

A while back, I wrote on the horrible packing and how the product was delivered to me. A month later and numerous heavy books sitting on top of it, I still have yet to get rid of some of the major creases in the pad. That being said, it is rather sturdy, and does help to protect my desktop, however, I would like to see an increase in size to the lip that is supposed to keep it snug to the desk. On my particular pad, it is little more than a bevel and does little to keep the product in place.

I just received this product and it's very obviously a solid piece of brown vinyl/rubber--it does not in any way resemble leather. Aesthetics aside, it gets the job done, and I'm going to keep and use it because it's not THAT bad, and would be more of a hassle to return it.

This desk pad covers the area used on my kitchen desk. It was getting abused from constant use. The lip on the front holds the mat securely to the front of the desk so it is properly positioned on the desk for each use. This desk gathers all personal articles upon arrival at home so the mat protects my wood desk from purses, keys, paperwork, packages, etc. What a life saver! The small size is perfect for the builtin desk and the surface cleans easily. My coffee drinks will no longer mar the desk.
