Q: Will a regular place mat fit on it to prevent plates from sliding?

Inside dimensions are 16” wide by 12.5 high The normal placemat I have was too wide to fit. May I suggest some “waffle” weave shelf liner? Nothing slides on that!

Yes, we purchased the natural bamboo and it’s easily portable and light when sitting in the lap. Tray edges help to prevent plate from sliding off as well.

Q: Whats the best way to clean the wood tray?

In order to clean the wood portion of the board, mild dish soap and water are usually more than adequate. Just make sure not to scrub with anything abrasive like steel wool, and never let it soak in water! Hope this helps
