Here's the skinny! Literally
Ok, for you diehard Bostonian Ipswitch wearers as I am, here is the skinny! I have been buying and wearing these shoes for a good 10 years now as they are one of the few dress shoes I can walk right through TSA Pre and not have to take off my shoes. The last pair I bought (at a local online/retailer) was size 13 D or medium which is what I wear and have for years in any shoe. I bought mail order and I had to return them because they were way too tight in width. I was convinced the shoes were mislabeled for size. I then bought another pair here on Amazon with hopes they would fit as they have for years past, but NO... They have become too skinny for my size 13D foot. I reordered in the wide Size 13 2E or "W' and the Wide size is actually the exact fit I used to get with Bostonian Ipswitch 13D. SO if you are like me and love these shoes for whatever reason comfort, light weight, looks or you fly a lot as I do? Do yourself a favor and order a size wider than you would normally. Length was fine in either size but the width runs much narrower... One last note! Be very careful until you have worn whatever coating off the soles that they are now applying. Seems like they are rubbing Vaseline on them but it will wear off with a good walk on rough concrete...

It's a... nice...black.. dress...shoe.
These shoes are well worth the money. They hold up well, and are surprisingly light. I'll definitely be buying a second pair. One thing I did notice though, is that the back of the shoe is a little high and the side-wall, which is ridged and thin, rubs the bottom side of my ankle. I use these shoes for meetings and short walking. I don't know that I would recommend them if you are doing a lot of walking, although the weight and the comfort of these shoes would help with that. Maybe worth a try... and maybe I have low ankles and it's just me.Also to note, the durability and scuff resistance is pretty good. The "leather" if that's what it is, looks like good quality and strikes a nice balance of shine and matte. I would imagine this shoe could be polished. Also, I've gotten shoes that smell like gasoline, or the inside of a Harbor Freight, cheap 3rd world tool store. These didn't have ANY offense smell, and were ready to wear right away.

Like many others I have had several pairs of these ...
Shoot. Like many others I have had several pairs of these shoes and worn them for many many years. They were my favorite travel shoes. So light and comfortable - you could wear them and feel comfortable hiking across Manhattan or SF between meetings as fit almost like sports shoes. I even keep a pair in storage for when I need something for a nice occasion. Just pulled theese out for a wedding overseas and realized that hey these don't seem right. I went online ot make sure I ordered the right thing and now realize the off ones were also Made In India. Not the same shoe anymore. Everything that made it so nice, cushioned and comfortable now gone. As DT would say... SAD!Bostonian please bring back the old ones. Is there someplace with a reservoir of Chinese made ones?

Solid Business Casual Shoe
After exhaustively searching for shoes both in stores and online (my size is rarely kept in stores), I found the Ipswich to be just right for me. I needed a nice, business casual shoe that I could wear all day.Ecco became a favorite of mine a long, long while ago, but none of the styles I liked were available in my size. Note that these are much more expensive and (to me) in a different league. I still have two pair that I do not want to give up. They are my benchmark for business casual shoes. My goal was to find shoes under $90.In my price category:Clark's seemed a bit too shiny and of slightly lesser quality.Nunn Bush had the same feel Clark's gave me with a bit less appealing style.Dockers and Deer Stags were very low on the price scale, but also on the bottom of perceived quality scale for me.In general, it seems the shoes crafted in India (as these Bostonians state they are) seem to be of slightly higher quality and finish than the ones of Chinese origin. When I ordered, my hope was that the Bostonians in my size were the same look and quality as the smaller ones found in stores. In fact, they are.The leather is a bit dull for my taste, but I was able to condition and shine them to add just enough gloss to look nice without being cheap or fake. After ten days of wearing them, I see no cracks, odd creases, nor splits in the leather. The sole of the shoe is dusty from being used, but does not show any wear. I am on concrete for part of my day.The laces are attractive and stay laced, a detail that I used to overlook until a bad experience. They feel neutral as far as support and I have no need for correction, so they work for me.I would not go running in these, but they are good as an office shoe and for the 8 minute walk to and from my car each work day. The arch support is good and again, average (someone with flat feet would likely need inserts). The liner is nice and appears as new even after wearing these shoes to ten days of work. The inserts are basic, but fine with me.My only minor complaint is how the shoe rubbed the back of my heel and just above. The pressure after a few hours of wearing prompted me to do a bit of stretching on the leather in that area when I got home the first night. Now they are just fine. While not expensive, they are stylish and comfortable. I feel they will be durable as well.I recommend them given their price point and the related quality and look.

Not what they used to be
The old version of these shoes were made in China and were very comfortable and seemed to be of better quality. They wouldn't last forever, and the soles were a little slippery on wet surfaces, but they were comfortable, stylish shoes for a good price. The new version is made in India. It is rigid and unforgiving, and appears to be much lower quality. I tried them on and decided to return them immediately. Don't waste your time.

Good fit and value for what you pay
I had same size shoes from Cleark's before I ordered this one. That one was wide. Since that was little too tight, so this time I ordered extra wide. This one little bigger. However I prefer this rather then wearing tight fit for 8 to 10 hours a day. Also pulling lace makes it almost right fit. I am using it for a week now and they are quite comfortable. Weight is quite light. Hope sole will last couple of years for office use and walking around about half a mile every working day. Amazon cost was about ten dollars less than department stores. Delivery was as specified at the time of order and packaging was quite good when they arrived.

More padding along the back heel would be nice.
Shoes were alright, the back end for the heel was my only issue because I had dress shoes that would rub against the back of my heel and would be very uncomfortable. These did that as well, but not as bad since the size was .5 larger than I normally wear, it was loose. If I did by one in the correct size, both back heels may have hated me because there was not much padding on the shoe itself for your heels. Otherwise I wore them the first time to a wedding and had not issues really throughout the evening.

They must have changed material or manufacturer.
I've owned this exact shoe before, not sure what happened but its not as soft/comfortable. I did not review it right away, I've owned these several months now and wear them to work everyday. My previous exact name/model shoe was way better, almost like they changed material.

Not like they used to be.
This was going to be my second pair of these. Love the first ones. Unfortunately they changed them considerably. These are cheap and they feel like it. Why Bostonian?

Nothing to fancy. Practical
Somewhat tight. I don't mind them. Happy I got them for 48.00. Should've bought several pairs at that price. Let me know when they lower it again thanks

Beautiful shoe
These are beautiful shoes, but my husband has very "fussy" feet and the toe did not fit my husband well.
