This was a companion purchase to a Genie chain drive garage door opener as the door height was around 8ft and this extension enabled a full opening/closing. Other than getting a bit of oil on my hands as I joined the extended piece of link chain this was a simple addition to the overall garage door opener installation.

works very well, they give you all the parts you will need.. it IS tricky to actually do a DIY install and lft it into place.. i used light cord to hold it in place while my helper lifted and i guided.. again i must mention there should be some better way to hold all the sections of rail together, maybe counter sink flathead screws into threaded holes.. next time i do this for the 2nd garage door i try that..

My only beef is my own fault. I ordered this and an 8 foot bar wasn’t long enough. I fixed that with a quick trip to Home Depot, but it was still a pain. Regarding operation, it does great. It’s quiet, but a little slow. Also, I installed this myself, and my handyman skills are sub-par. It wasn’t too difficult, but it helps if your spouse or friend helps.
