A pretty good deal. But, the shelves tend to sag under weight.
As others have mentioned, the "cover" is made of thin plexiglass, not glass. To open the case, you pull the bottom of the cover toward you, then push upwards. I also bought 5 pieces of HO scale track WITHOUT the fake gravel bedding. Each piece is 36 inches long. They fit inside the shelves perfectly. If you use track that has the fake gravel bedding, there might not be enough room (height), to fit all of your railroad cars or locos. I do have a couple of complaints: I ordered "cherry" because I liked the way it looked in Amazon. Yet, the color is pretty dark and looks more like a dark walnut with a hint of dark cherry. It is darker than the one shown in Amazon. ALSO: the shelves tend to "sag" a little bit when they are fully loaded with railroad cars. Other than that, I am happy with this shelf. One more thing. It comes with 3 wall anchors and a key. Do not use the wall anchors that come with this shelf. Use something that is stronger, or make sure to drill into the wooden studs in your wall.

Hesitant to Mount on wall
Once I saw the provided hardware, I questioned the wisdom of mounting it on wall and trusting a few thousand $$ of trains to the drywall mounts..the mounts on the display are pre installed and are not the same distance as the studs on the walls..my solution was to remove bottom latches and put it on a side table top, and then use the wall mounts in addition to that..to keep it from falling forward..I also put some furniture “stick on” scuff pads under the base so that the door (which opens upwards) would not drag when opening..the shelf heights are ok..but not tall enough for pantographs extended..I loaded my heavier items towards the end of the shelves to avoid shelf warping..since it seems a little weak in the middle of the shelves...would def go with sliding doors in the future, and. HEAVIER CONSTRUCTION....so you could put mounts where the studs are..the latches can be reinstalled on the bottom sides to keep the door closed properly, but this is a lot of work compared to getting a simple sliding door unit..

Excellent product at a fair price
Well made and finished, has sufficient depth& height for HO models. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was the wall hanging fixtures, I don't doubt that would hold the weight of the capacity of HO cars. However for my collection of Brass cabooses I want "industrial strength". Will devise additional attachment points or make a cleat. No sheetrock anchors.Otherwise an outstanding product I highly recommend it!

Great display case but get good hardware for the install
Great display case. I was surprised that it was as nice as it is. You will want to purchase additional hardware to hang this to the wall as it is heavy and with the added weight of what’s going in the display it would be a great candidate for crashing to the floor after pulling out from the drywall. My only gripe is that the hooks on back are very small and do not accommodate oversized screws.

No Room for HO Gauge Locomotives!
This product turned out to be a terribly disappointment. It is supposed to display HO model trains, but the shelving is extremely cramped. Also the wall mounting is exceedingly difficult to get right.Depth of the shelves is barely 1¼ inches, so forget about laying an attractive cork roadbed under your track (a 2 inch requirement). Accepting this disappointment there still remains the difficult problem of “shoe-horning” my locomotives on a standard HO track (1.125 inches wide). Most of my locomotives snag the fabric on the back wall when I slide them along the track. Vertical space between shelves varies between 2¼ (top shelf) and 2¾ inches (lower shelves). The top shelf is useless for anything taller than a flat car. The rest are so cramped one is unable to view a locomotive top side detail. Just placing a single locomotive on a shelf averages about ten minutes work. There is no room for fingers so I have to resort to an assortment tools get each locomotive wheel properly resting on the supporting track.I just can’t understand why the manufacture is so chinchy with shelf space. Would another ¾inch of shelf depth really add that much cost? Likewise a 3¼ inch shelf height would do wonders. Why not eliminate one shelf and reapportion the remaining five within the same envelope?Too bad about these issues because the workmanship otherwise is very attractive.

Train Cabinet
This is a great cabinet but there are a few little pit falls. The locking mechanism is a little hard and could be better. Make sure when removing the packing from the glass you don't scratch the glass. Plus there was some gung that was hard to remove off of the glass. Seems easy to scratch. I wish I got a larger one. May end up buying another.

Great to Look at but
The display case is very well packaged and arrived in very good shape. It is beuatiffully finished and looks like fine furniture. However there are a few issues. The glass is actually plastic and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it completely clean. It may be manufacturing residues or something from the packaging materials but there is stuff stuck to the cover that I can't get off. Then there are the latches at the bottom, they don't close completely so that they can be locked. It looks like I am going to have to bend them a bit so that they will close but I am hesitant to do so in fear of breaking the latch off. Since I don't have any kids I am going to leave it unlocked.
