These filters seem to do an excellent job as filters go and are much cheaper than other brands

Directions were clear. Fit in my GE fridge. Water tastes good! Make sure you check the model number on your fridge and compare to filter to make sure it’s correct!

Fits perfectly on refrigerators using XWF filters. Contrary to reviews that say non-GE filters won’t work on GE fridges, this is the third non-GE brand I’ve used and they all fit and work as well as the original. The differences between brands: GE doesn’t list the flow rate, has 170 gallon capacity and weighs 7.4 oz; #1 lists flow at 0.66 gpm, capacity at 300 gallons and weighed 6.5 oz; #2 lists 0.528 gpm, 200 gallons and weighed 7.25 oz; Glacier lists 0.528 gpm (but actual flow was 0.28 gpm. Didn’t measure flow on the other filters), 200 gallons andwas only 5.5 oz. Not sure exactly what the weight means, but maybe not as much filtering material and won’t last as long as the others. The specs, certifications and what they remove appear the same but it’s not easy to confirm everything. This is the first fridge I had with a filter and never had any issues with water or ice quality or taste over the 40 years I didn’t use one, while on city water. For me, the filter is just an extra touch. I don’t filter my sink water and wouldn’t necessarily use a filter in my fridge, but it won’t work without it and it’s worse to use an expired filter than no filter. If I had well water I might consider paying the $50 GE cost, for peace of mind, but not sure if it’s really worth it. You could replace your replacement filter almost monthly for the same price as a GE filter, so the only difference is if you actually have water with the impurities GE says it removes and you don’t think the replacement filter will remove them. Bottom line, for me, with city water, this filter is worth the price, but I’ll probably switch back to the #1 replacement (higher flow and capacity).

The price is nice but these will not work on most GE refrigerators. They will click in perfectly but you will get an error on your water dispenser. You cannot dispense water with them or make ice. I thought I had bigger issues until I called GE. They informed me off brand filters will not work. I ordered a GE one and what do you know! My fridge is working again. Unfortunately you will have to bite the bullet and pay $50+ for 1 GE filter. I’m leaving 5 stars because it delivered quickly and they took my return with no hassle.

These filters are non-GE replacement water filters. They are well made and easy to install. If I was told these were original GE filters I would believe it. Of course, these filters also have a major advantage over GE and that’s the price. These filters are as good and are roughly $30.00 EACH cheaper than original filters in packs of three.

**I need to add this, I see now in the additional info under the description of these there is the statement "These are not a replacement for the GE XWFE cartridges", that was not there when I bought these in September and these were a suggested alternative. Based on several other 1* reviews, it seems I wasn't the only one to make this mistake as they were supposed to be a suitable alternative for the XWFE. I see they are now specifically excluded, which is due to others finding this out and returning them**We bought a new GE refrigerator last year and replaced our 22+ year old one (which was still working fine). Reading through instructions, I found the directions to replace the water filter every 6 months or so. I immediately searched for the specific filters (XWFE) and found it here, along with these Glacier Fresh filters. They were much cheaper (3 for 30, vs. 1 for 50) so I bought a GE filter and the three pack to compare.Last night out filter light came on and pulled one of the new Glacier Fresh filters and attempted to replace the existing one. They DO NOT FIT. When comparing the sizes, they are very close, the connections are different. The GE filter (on the right in the photo) compared to the Glacier are not compatible. I was able to seat it into the filter connection, but because of the lack of proper holes in the Glacier Fresh filter, the fridge would not recognize it and it would not reset the filter. This locked up my water button, I double checked it was seated (as best as it could be) and then removed it. I put in the new GE filter (XWFE) and it seated perfectly, and reset the filter mechanism. Because I bought these 5 months ago, I cannot return them and they were a complete waste of money.I will purchase ONLY the GE XWFE filters and ensure I have a couple stored for when the new one reaches its end.While I was careful comparing these, I found the statement "These are a direct replacement for XWFE filters", they are not. Just make sure you double check before you invest and open the package to see if a new off-brand filter is really a direct replacement option.Also, you should also read your owner's manual carefully, many models are eligible to receive a bypass plug, free from GE. I also found this out when reordering new filters direct from GE and seeing the bypass plug, (which allows you to use the water/ice maker without any filter) and it's listed for 27.00, but the comments/reviews mention numerous times this is a free product (per the owner's manual). I double checked and sure enough it is for mine as well. I called and requested it, (having registered the warranty when we bought it) and they said "no problem, it's on the way". Why it isn't included with the fridge is simple, so we'll spend the money on filters and hope you don't notice the bypass option.

We all know this filter won’t normally work with an XWFE filter (which has an RFID so GE can strong arm us into paying $50 per filter). HOWEVER, you can get it to work if you:1. Slowly peel off label from XWFE filter - do this slowly and with a hair dryer to loose the adhesive. You have to hold the hair dryer on each part for a minute before peeling each part of the label in sections.2. Stick the old label from the XWFE filter onto this new XWF filter loosely (don’t make it stick to much so you can peel it off later for the next filter.3. Screw your filter back in - there are two circles of plastic on the top of each filter - align the larger circle facing your face as you look into the fridge. Turn the filter 1/4 turn clockwise (to the right) or 90 degrees.4. For the life of me, I was unable to get the filter to be recognized unless you stick the label on the new filter (loosely again!). I tried to stick the XWFE label inside the fridge near the filter and behind the fridge many times trying different spots but the filter wouldn’t be recognized! Weird but it needs to be stuck on the new filter … hmmmm
