About 3 years ago, I attempted to find the best tasting black licorice. I LOVE black licorice and fondly remember going to see Disney's Cinderella at a tiny movie theater in Estacada Oregon. We each were allowed to select one item from the candy counter, and mine was usually a bar version of black licorice. It was soft, black, and had a delightful flavor and texture. I savored every delicious bite. Flash forward 65 years. In my attempt to find the black licorice of my childhood, I purchased 6 or more different brands of licorice. I was surprised to find so many BAD types. Most of the licorice I tried were the thick Australian types. To my disappointment, few had a good flavor with many failing to have good texture, and having so much licorice extract that it was too sweet, and too bitter, literally burning my tongue. To my horror, some were even BROWN, not black!!! I finally gave up and bequeathed the failed candidates to my yard waste container. I was not doing any favors for the compost.Then, a few months ago, my sister came back from a trip to Germany. She brought me back some lovely Haribo gummy treats. One of them was a bag of their licorice wheels. Expecting the worst, I didnt know Haribo made licorice, but i tried them, while expecting my usual disappointment. However, what I found was the flavor and texture of the licorice from my childhood at the theater in Estacada! They were so wonderful, i ordered a TUB of them. Now, every day i happily have my licorice break, where I treat myself to 4 of their wonderful licorice wheels, happily unrolling them and savoring every delicious bite. I am on my third tub as we speak. THIS IS THE BEST BLACK LICORICE I HAVE EVER TASTED, AND I AM A TRUE LICORICE CONNOISSEUR. I would give this as gifts, it is so good.

These licorice wheels are the real thing from Haribo. They are packed fresh and are sof and tasty. But beware, you won’t be able to stop yourself from eating them!

This seems to be the best black licorice available today. Most of the fantastic black licorice has been discontinued. This is not overly sweet and has a soft texture. There are other black licorice wheels that are good, but not nearly as good as this. This is exceptional.

Product exploded in shipping box - Odd, no seal around plastic container causing the contents to discharge. Sadly, tainted for consumption with NO method to return nor exchange. No Schnecken to enjoy Scared to re-order to encounter same experience. :-(

I grew up with this in Europe. Now I see my little grands eat it. This has been around a long time. If you're not a friend of licorice, this will definitely change your mind. Not the traditional licorice flavor. It arrived in the pictured container. Has a strong lid that preserves freshness. You won't be disappointed.

The plastic Tub and lid was broken and cracked on arrival with many of the Licorice wheels outside of the container and inside the shipping box ... The box however, that it came in had no damage! Just the badly wrapped and packaged plastic container!I have been buying these for over 50 years in the U.K and have always bought the individual Haribo packets...this is the first time that I have purchased the Tub... I must say that the wheels are thinner and slightly smaller than the individual packets...This is very strange considering they are from the same company!PS: It's interesting that my complaint about the broken plastic container, is the same compliant that many other buyers have mentioned on Amazon going back many years...It seems strange to me that the shipper doesn't pay any attention to what his/her customers are experiencing... and fix this issue!Regards, MarkLondon
