Hennessy Hammock - Jungle Explorer Zip XL

If your a big guy like me 6'4 and 250. This hammock had plenty of room. Perfect for backpack camping. It is expensive but worth it.

It works mostly as advertised. I gave it a 4 because the standard rain fly needs to be a little bigger. A little more fabric would go a long way. When trying to pull it in tight to ride out a thunderstorm, it tends to leak on the outside of the hammock even if you have the hammock cinched up inside. Other than that, if you are planning to camp someplace cold, make sure you take advantage of the cool insulation slip between the layers because your backside will get cool if you don't have something between you and the air. Also, I recommend the snake skin as it makes it easier. The cinch straps around that go around the tree in this model are not big enough. Some of the other models have a longer adjustable one. Sleeping on your side can be a challenge at best, so don't buy it expecting that to be easy.All that said, I stayed dry, warm and free of mosquito bites on a 3 day trip above 11,000 feet.

Wish it came with better straps for the money. Not as easy as many other brands strap system, not even close. Fly could be shaped better, wind can bring moisture in. Hammock itself it nice, love the shelf for flat sleeping. Mine was thick, so got hot under you in summer. Suppose fall camping would benefit. Bug netting works well.

I weigh 250lb and worried that I would have to hold my breath every time I moved for fear of tearing the hammock. Not so! This is so well made I felt comfortable trying all kinds of different positions. There is plenty of room so I was able to get comfortable and not feel claustrophobic. Initial quality on unpacking looked good, feels good in the hand, etc. Sleeping in it made me a believer. I also washed it this weekend (in oxyclean -- long story). No color fade and feels as good as new.This is not an inexpensive hammock so I expected something very high quality. Part of the equation for me is the reputation of the company and support. If it lasts as long as I hope it will I think this is a fair exchange of money for quality. I keep it in my truck all the time now. I tie one end to the roof rack and the other to a tree.
