Why movies fail
This is a perfect example of why movies fail: most attention was given to showing off the pretty people (Walker and Alba) than developing the story, the characters, building tension...basic How to Make a Decent Movie 101. This was a movie about Jessica Alba's ass in a bikini....every conceivable angle, underwater and topside, over and over again. A shame because the plot premise had potential, even if it was a shameless ripoff of The Deep. (And Jessica Alba is no Jacqueline Bisset.) The "acting" is what you would expect from a face like Alba's...painful to watch. Walker's character was a cliche, as was John Brolin's. They both did their best with what they had to work with, I guess, and they got paid. Good for them. Now I should get paid for having wasted time watching it.

Fun variation of the 70s classic, The Deep....sexy and thrilling.
...featuring a studly Nick Nolte and the sexy Jacqueline Bissett; Louis Gossett Jr. and an assortment of (Hey! That guy!) character actors play the baddies. It was Peter Benchley's follow-up to Jaws and The Island. This update surprisingly good: modern day treasure hunting with a great looking cast - the gals in bikinis; the fellas, trunks. That's the entire wardrobe.Good plot, pacing and genuinely surprising twists. The very definition of Popcorn Movie. Also, doesn't (sorry) go overboard with CGI and contrived "action." Pretty good plot, actually. Also, a great (relatively early in his "comeback") performance by Josh Brolin in the villian role.Of course, Jessica Alba is the heiress to the Jacqueline Bissett nautically sexy throne; Alba will capture the imagination of many a lad the way the iconic Bissett's scene(s) from The Deep. The underwater scenes are amazingly well photographed and look great, especially on this Blu-ray.Fun stuff!

Great cinematography to the point of beauty. Okay plot, but the point of this movie is WOW is that some gorgeous scenery.
Great Bahama scenes, water scenes, underwater scenes. I found myself more interested in the cinematography than the plot. Whoever did the filming did a great job. The movie plot isn't outstanding, but who cares. This is a good Saturday afternoon movie. Jessica Alba is not the only person who shows ability as an actor, and she is easy on the eyes, of course. Women should like the men for much the same reason. I found myself just leaning back and enjoying the outstanding scenery. You likely won't think this should win an Oscar, but you may come away wanting to take a vacation to the Gulf to see this beauty for yourself. It's outstanding visually.

Get what you pay for action fun
For the ladies, Paul Walker in a swim suit. For the guys, Jessica Alba in a swim suit. For action lovers, treasure, sharks, bad guys in the middle of the ocean where nobody is coming to help. Did I mention that Jessica Alba is wearing a swimsuit?

Exhilarating and Gorgeous
Everything in this movie is gorgeous - the locations, cinematography (the underwater scenes are stunning), the main characters (great looking couple with the most beautiful skin you've ever seen). Also Paul and Jessica were dating during filming and it shows. The acting, editing, and music are very good. I'm not into action movies but this is an exhilarating, well paced movie that kept my attention from start to finish.

"There's a shark. I swear to God. He's big. He' looks like Jaws. Get out." Blu ray review
There is so much to like about this little gem of a movie. Many say this is a remake of The Deep, and there are many similarities. The hot leads Walker and Alba (oh, she looks so good in this movie) are reminiscent to Nolte and Bisset (oh, she looks so good in that movie). The diving, treasure, drugs, drug dealers and sharks are all in both stories as well. However, this is a much better movie! Here come the crazy The Deep fans after me. The Deep was a very choppy story with some good scenes and decent acting (Robert Shaw is always awesome). Into the Blue really draws you in with the main plot and all the subplots. The dynamics of love, friendship, betrayal are well written and connects you to the characters. The mystery behind the Zephyr and the plane filled with cocaine is also compelling. Can you believe I am saying this about a movie with Paul Walker in it??? The action sequences are great, especially with the sharks (and yes that is Paul Walker swimming around with all those reef sharks around him). Give credit where it is due, this is a fun movie to watch.NOW FOR MY BLU RAY THOUGHTS: A beautiful transfer. The power of blu is evident in all the underwater sequences. On DVD the scenes look pixelated in areas of darkness. That is not the case with BD. The audio is also a nice mix. SPECIAL FEATURES: All ported over from DVD. FINAL THOUGHTS: Jessica Alba in a bikini in HD = UPGRADE!

don't let this great film slip by. A really good high production value movie. It looks like it was a theater film.
Excellent underwater treasure/adventure filmed in beautiful Bahama. I even didn't mind having to put with 5'3' Scott Cann before his skin got prematurely sun damaged. Great story, plenty of action and just the right amount of violence and criminal evilness.Highly recommend this movie. As everyone knows, Prime can have some very vanilla films that leave you wanting to watch a real movie. This movie finally delivers and deserves props. The underwater scenes were EXCELLENT. Love clear bright blue water.

great video
This review is more about the quality of the bluray than off the movie itself. The BD disk are cheap, ~$5, is great eye candy and a showboat for the video quality of your TV. I dove several dive sites this movie was filmed at before the movie was made [ Nassau, many locations are now part of Stuart Cove's operation] including many of the land based film locations, and this movie is the best video I've seen for them, better than actually being there in real life. The video quality is superb, particularly the underwater shots. The water is superbly clear, and the contrast between the white sands and the blue sky mirrored against the ocean jumps out at you in bluray. The sea life is photo real. What makes it better than real life is the supplemental lighting used so there are much more colors than blue at the depth the video was taken. If you want to push great colors and PCM sound as a demo of interest to adults, this is it.The main con is the movie story is predictable and ordinary. The main pro is underwater photography and lots of Jessica Alba in her prime.

INTO THE BLUE - BLURAY
The copy I received is BLURAY but has Walker and Alba in B/W nearly blue colour, but otherwise I guess it is the same as the full colour one here that I am told "I purchased". So...The transfer is excellent 2.35:1 ratio, good sound colour and subtitles. No extras. As a One star reviewer said, and I quote "not even a pert buttocked Alba can save this movie" (as near as dammit a quote). Sadly he is right. How could this film, with so much potential, including the aforementioned Alba in her prime, be just a bit boring? Answer - too much underwater filming where it is often hard to tell who is who or who is doing what to who(m), a rather pedantic script, and mainly unlikeable characters (Scott Caan and almost everyone else except Alba). Alba has a nothing part and it isn't enough to film her in a minikini and shorts, or co-star Ashley Scott (who almost outshines Alba, particularly in the minikini stakes). I make no apology for making a lot out of the lack of clothes, because the director certainly knew what would attract audiences. To be positive for a moment, there is someaction, an element of suspense, and a good show from a bewhiskered Josh Brolin, but I longed for a sharper script, better direction, and a bit more pizzazz from the actors. Sorry folks, but that's how I felt after watching the film. But I am sure many many viewers will disagree and love it, and as I said, the quality of the transfer is excellent, as is the current price.

Dive right in!
This is a great movie. It's sexy, slick and it's great to see some old faces like Josh Brolin. I like the late Paul Walker in his other movies and Jessica Alba is pretty go in this too. Josh plays "Bates" the rival/ex employer to Paul's Character "Jared" and they are all treasure hunters. Jared has gone out on his own trying to fix up a boat but has no money. Bates has the big boat with all the trimmings. The film is full of great sun bleached scenery and clear blue waters with a good mixture of action, intrigue, and a bit of suspense. There are some moving moments too, some great diving sequences and I really liked the story. For a Blu-ray it looks great and sounds really good too.Enjoy

Vanilla anyone?
If you're looking for an easy film to pass a rainy Saturday afternoon with. This will fit the bill. just switch off the ol' brainbox and watch the 'sploshuns. It's enjoyable enough. The picture quality is fantastic and deeply saturated with glorious colours. The sound is excellent too.As this was such a cheap buy, I thought I'd upgrade my DVD copy. I was a wee bit peeved that the Blu-Ray did not have any extra's whatsoever on it. At least the DVD had a Director's commentary, a making of featurette and deleted scenes. None are on the Blu-Ray. A plain old vanilla disc. Whatever happened to "More data capability of BD for all those extra's" Oh well. It just means my mate won't get my old cast off DVD. A poor show from Sony. Tsk tsk!

nice legs,shame about the face
Good lpcm audio track, watches as a movie rather than a 't.v movie',and under a fiver,...but the transfer could be alot more solid-it is like a wall of paint lacking that final coat which is a crying shame as this is a Sony bd,and their discs are always great & crammed with extras.Their are no extras here, but for under a fiver you don't mind.Suppose only worth its buck if you own a nice 5.1 surround system-unless just get the dvd down your local second hand record store.p.s-the product says region free but mine specifically is 'B',its clearly printed on the back.
