Alvin PXB36 Portable Parallel Straightedge Board 24" x 36"

Product was as good as it was advertized. Met my expectations for my requirements. I wpould recommmend this product to anyone looking for a drafting board.

Very happy with product and delivery service

I'm an experienced architect who does hand drawing, and I needed this portable board when I was living out of home due to storm damage. It does not function at all for drawing professional architectural plans. The parallel rule does not slide, it kept tearing my vellum, wouldn't stay parallel. needed constant adjusting. I wanted to launch this board into outer space it was so frustrating. Inexcusable that they would offer this board as something that would function at all for drawing plans. I will be returning this as soon as I get a chance. A total rip-off.

So, this isn't the most amazing piece of equipment on the market. I'd rather have a nice sturdy, glides super smooth, big drafting table with tons of surface area, but as an architectural design student, I lack the space and $$$. So,this is what I went with and I have to say it's pretty awesome.It fits perfectly on my round kitchen table and provides a nice solid surface to draw on. The parallel rule can be a little finicky from the box but a few minor adjustments and it works like a charm. Be patient.The angle isn't as steep as I would prefer but it's a minor "con". It actually forces me to stand up during my project which is better for my circulation anyways.The handle is great. I have to put it up each and every night since I have kids and they ruin everything. A nice sturdy handle to transport it from room to room is wonderful.I had a small issue with the wire coming off one of the roller tracks, but I tightened the screws attached to the rollers and haven't had an issue since. So, like I said before, a few minor adjustments out of the box and all is well.Overall, I'm very pleased. Before I got this I was using a drawing board I used in art school. It was very time consuming trying to get straight lines and not to mention my back hurt from hunching over the board. I bit the bullet and bought this and even with the small incline, it makes a world of difference when spending hours and hours on a drawing. The parallel bar saves a ton of time and frustration.No, it's not the greatest thing ever and I look forward to getting a real drafting table when I grow up, but this has definitely been worth the purchase.

I spent may years working on a similar board, and wanted one for use at home. This is a nice board for that purpose. I like having the carrying handle for moving the board from table to table. I've read the reviews about the slide not staying parallel. If you read the instructions that come with the board it is clear as to what needs to be tightened to keep the slide aligned properly. Once done you shouldn't have to do the adjustment again if the board is used properly.
