When the plants are 12" tall, add 6 inches of soil around the base of plants and watering. Step 4. Once they have grown another 12" above the soil, repeat the front process until the bags are nearly full. Keep them well watered, especially in dry weather. Step 5. Wait about 7-8 weeks, till the foliage has turned brown and died back completely, then you can harvest potatoes. (Harvest the potatoes from access flap, just take the big potatoes and keep the small potatoes to grow up in the soil) Step 6. USELESS view flap and MISLEADING!!!!
The viewing panel to see how well your potatoes are growing does not have plastic or some other transparent material for you to look through. Instead it is just a velcroed piece that you can lift up. Any/everytime you lift it, dirt spills out, so the viewing flap is absolutely USELESS! I should have spent less money for a regular planter, but I had specifically purchased these (for more money) for the purpose of being able to watch them grow through some type of transparent material. Why have a flap when you can't watch the progress of growth? All you have is a useless flap that spills dirt and makes a mess when you open it. Misleading pictures and descriptions and VERY DISSATISFIED!!!!

Disappointed
Not at all what I expected. The material is flimsy, and the opening lets out all the soil. I thought the opening would have a plastic window so I could view all...

Works well for my potatoes and carrots
I do like these pots, I am currently growing some potatoes and carrots in them and so far so good. The walls of the pot are fairly thick, I do think these will hold up for multiple uses. The handles are a bit awkward as they're flat against the side of the pot which makes it a bit more cumbersome to move around. I have not gotten to the point of harvest so I dont know how the flap will work, but I've had no issues with it coming undone or dirt falling out.

NOT 7 gallon bags!
These are in no way 7 gallon bags. Maybe combined! I purchased these to grow potatoes in and do not see them being large enough for any amount of crop. Looking through the description today it does give the appropriate dimensions but if you are like me and just looking at the 7gallon part, you will be highly disappointed. They don’t seem like they will last but for one season. My kids were too excited about planting potatoes that we did end up planting a couple in one bag. I didn’t have the heart to tell them they will likely yield nothing. I have no idea what to use the other 3 for, maybe carrots but I doubt they will be large enough for a good crop of them either.

Very disappointing and misleading
Very misleading size, I ordered 4, 7 gallon bags but they are more like 2 gallons. Cannot grab by handles if the bag has soil in them or they will rip. Very flimsy materials
