This is a charming book that little big sisters everywhere will love ...
Baby brother had arrived and things were not the same in the house, not at all. He was just lying there looking at his bunny toy, something that she used to do. It used to be nice to cuddle that bunny and she was going to do just that because she “found something new to play.” That game just happened to be the “baby big girl game!” Mmmm, that blankie felt really nice on her cheek and bunny was just as squishy as she remembered. It was fun to get into that baby bed too. “Here’s my special baby bed, / my brother sleeps there now. / I can still squeeze into it. / Let me show you how.” Playing the baby big girl game was lots of fun.Mummy smiled as she took her out of the crib and said, “You’re my big girl, darling, not a baby anymore!” Maybe she just might fit in her baby clothes, but no, those yellow jammies with green dots were just a bit too small. Well, maybe a lot small and so were the red and white striped ones. Ugh! Too small, but Daddy smiled and helped her into her “lovely big girl clothes.” Baby brother made a mess with his yucky food, but not a big girl. Mummy offered to mash it up for her, but big girls have “big girl teeth.” Crunch, crunch!Changing table. Now that wasn’t much fun to have a diaper change and even bunny held his nose. Pee-YOO! Now that she was a big girl she did “what big girls do” and that was to sit on a potty. Baby brother liked to play with her toys, but whenever she tried to take them back he made “a screechy noise.” Granny would cuddle her and say, “There’s my clever grown-up girl, learning how to share.” Her very, very unhappy eyes grew wide when baby brother played with Giraffe. Was she really going to like being a big girl or was it more fun to be a baby? This is a charming book that little big sisters everywhere will love. This story-in-rhyme is perfect for anyone who’s introducing a little brother into the family. Big sister really wasn’t sure if she was going to like her newfound role one bit. It wasn’t all that comfortable to see that baby brother taking over her territory. The story was lots of fun and the way the family dealt with their big little girl’s insecurities was perfect. Love simply oozed from the pages and more than once I had to chuckle when big sister was playing “the baby big girl game.” I loved everything about this book from the storyline to the artwork. This book courtesy of the publisher.

Enjoyable book - even if you aren't expecting a new addition to the family
My daughter picked this out at the library because she liked the cover. She's 5, and although we don't have a new baby in the house, she enjoyed it very much. I enjoyed the writing - it's well done and fun to read. A good reminder that you can grow up and still be your parent's little girl or boy.

Not what I expected
The book doesn’t help children ease their mind about not being the baby

Lovely read!
Great book for toddler and extra stars for representation. My little boy really enjoys the book especially as he has had to transition to becoming a big brother.
